Tone arm holes do not line up - best way to attach TT?
drill new holes, or acquire a new arm board (if your tt uses arm boards) and have that drilled according to the template.double backed tape will work, but it’s like using it to attach your phono cartridge. it will compromise things. the precision ...
The cost of LP's and CD's - an observation
no doubt there is 80’s music i like, even love. and plenty we might all agree is beautiful. i own lots of it.but the 80’s was not a time of huge artistic changes in music, and the best and brightest of a generation were not music makers. they were...
The cost of LP's and CD's - an observation
thank you for the comments about the ’Ferit Odman’ rec. we need more music recorded and played like that. :-) I would not venture into saying that they think of current music as not being the golden age for the music they like. And they like it, n...
The cost of LP's and CD's - an observation
I enjoy music. Too much great music is not and never will be on "records.’ of course, you have that quite backwards. literally the golden age of both music, and the recording process, came and went prior to digital.it’s not just that analog is be...
Story problem
Social distancing in effect? they did drive a distance to be social.i had an unopened sleeve of masks which i offered to everyone.and Millercarbon was our medical professional on hand.so all the important bases were covered.
Story problem
If anyone can figure out what oldhvymec was saying, and what it had to do with miller's thread, please clue me in. there was a post deleted. it appears to be after oldhvymec's post but possible triggered his post.
Story problem
@millercarbon Chuck, it was a pleasure to finally meet you and fun hanging with you and the gang from Portland. sorry you had to leave early, you missed some reel to reel tape the others seemed to enjoy. next time you visit i’ll play those for you...
How to choose step up transformers?
i agree with @lalitk .........if you are a DIY kinda person who gets techie stuff.if you really want to do it right and are not techie, contact Dave Slagle directly and ask him to recommend which of his SUT’s is right for your cartridge and phono ...
Opinions wanted on cantilever alignment
what is important as far as performance is that you align the cantilever, not the body, to the arm and Mint Lp. secondly; the cantilever needs to be aligned with the magnet structure, not the body. of course, you need to be able to see the magnets...
Torqueo - any info or updates?
a member on What’s Best Forum, gian60, who lives in Italy, has a Torqueo turntable and knows the builder. as i recall, Gian ordered one model of Torqueo turntable, then later upgraded it.Gian is a really nice guy (has multiple very interesting sys...
Direct Drive vs. Idler Drive vs. Belt drive
@kps25scno; not done that. would guess that the CS Port, with it’s air bearing and air film, would go on for a while.if/when i do it i will report.don't expect that the Saskia idler would be good at that. as i recall Win said it has some designed ...
Direct Drive vs. Idler Drive vs. Belt drive
@mijostyn,agree completely.i intentionally did not mention dollars, but degree of effort. it’s not trivial to have the right bearing/platter/plinth/motor assembly to get a great result.there are many giant killer turntables. but lots of ordinary o...
Direct Drive vs. Idler Drive vs. Belt drive
Dear @rauliruegasi’m not anti-servo, but appreciate the liquidity and tonal density that absolute steady speed and continueousness can deliver. maybe this explanation will help you to understand what a properly designed non servo turntable can del...
My thoughts on TT isolation methods.
i use an active system under one of my turntables (you can see pictures on my system page), the Taiko Tana system, which includes the Herzan TS-140. but it does require a turntable that has zero self noise to be effective. so it won’t work for man...
Direct Drive vs. Idler Drive vs. Belt drive
neither the Saskia or CS port have servo controllers for their motors.the Saskia does have an optical reader installed on the plinth in the platter well to allow for a feedback servo to be installed later for that feedback should that be preferred...
