Tube Amps With Good Bass Qualities
Bob, the smiley face was to indicate that I was kidding. I was simply responding to his comment about not wanting to mention other manufacturers who he seemed to think were inadequate to some degree. Ralph does not need to make any enemy's in this...

Tube Amps With Good Bass Qualities
Thanx Ralph,I think you just want them to recommend your amps:)))I hear you about the financial aspects of the audio business. Not any different from any other consumer oriented activity. I include medicine in that category.Atma-Sphere amps are ex...
Searching for matching(?) Subwoofer solution
If you have wall to wall carpet there will be a space between the carpet tack strips and the wall. You can usually tuck the wire into this space just by pushing the wire down between the base trim and the carpet with something like a screw driver....
Nasty Static on Vinyl
Lewm, it sounded to me like he pulled one of the clips off and was trying to make the connection with a bare wire. In which case all four wires should be trimmed and new ones installed. Of course new clips will not do anything for a static problem...
Tube Amps With Good Bass Qualities
Thanx Ralph. So why do you think so many manufacturers make low impedance loudspeakers? 16 ohm speakers are a rarity. With ESLs you don't have much choice and they all pretty much do the same thing as capacitive loads. But, dynamic speakers could ...
Looking for a sub to put in my amps loop function
6 dB/oct low pass is too slow for a sub. You will have it running up into the mid range. IMHO 12 dB/oct is the slowest I would use. Why not just get a sub like a JL Audio with a fully active cross over in it that can be adjusted to suit? If you do...
Wilson v Sonus Faber
I did and boy was she a looker.Although this is a lot of fun, I'm not sure why these threads get started. You get two sides warring and it always comes down to what YOU like best. We all see something different in an ink blot. A Ferrari means abso...
Connecting a second powered subwoofer
Hi Lula,You have it correct. No shorting plugs required and yes it is perfectly safe.Hang on to your hat:)Mike
Sonus Faber peeling leather
The only way that would happen is that somewhere along the line the speaker was exposed to too much heat causing the adhesive to liquefy. It can be fixed rather easily but what damage was done to the rest of the speaker. No way of knowing. For that...
Tube Amps With Good Bass Qualities
Why is it that everyone's own tube amp makes good or the best bass?First of all I think we are really talking about mid bass and up. Let's talk about 100 Hz down to 18 Hz. This is subwoofer territory and I have yet to see a subwoofer powered with ...
Would switching amps make a big difference?
Ralph your link is not working! Why not just put a big resistor in series with the speaker? Say 1 or 2 ohms?
ESL57 vs ESL63
Hey noromance, did you build those Eico's?
ESL57 vs ESL63
Sure, other ESLs. It is just that people do not get to hear them as the big ones take up a lot of space and are domineering. For some reason shops do not like keeping them around. Maybe hard to sell a Magico or Wilson with Soundlabs on the premise...
Advice on SUT for Koetsu Rosewood - EAR MC-4, Slagle/EMIA, other
Hang on guys, some transformers have multiple taps and others do not. You have to check on the wires coming out of the transformer. Most are color coded. While having multiple taps gives you flexibility. I think but I am not entirely sure that a s...
