What is the Best Tool to Measure Cartridge Azimuth?
Great minds think alike. I should think a USB microscope would work fabulously well. I use 10X loops because I already have them. You can get a USB microscope for much less!
Ceramic insulator cone under phono stage shocker!
Oh, lewm you are so diplomatic. It is more fun to throw a bomb. Now I've got to run fast:)))
Ceramic insulator cone under phono stage shocker!
The original purpose of spikes was to firmly engage the surface whatever was sitting on. I use three on my subwoofers to firmly engage the floor so they don't walk across the room (minimize vibration). Then like everything in audio the marketing g...
static Issues...anybody know why?
tzh21y, PVC is an electron magnet. It is very difficult to stop it from collecting them under normal record playing conditions. The best you can do is discharge them while the record is playing with the device I mention about. It costs a whopping ...
Searching for matching(?) Subwoofer solution
Actually, it might work better in a small room. Every dimension in a room makes difference but perhaps less so with multiple subwoofers.
VPI Uni-Pivit Tone Arms
Get the 3D gimbal bearing arm. No more spikes. I have an old Syrinx PU-3. I got it new in 1981. It is not on a table at the moment but I used it for over thirty years and it remains as good as new. I keep thinking about getting an arm board for it...
Oli for Jelco tonearm
Oil for a tonearm? you sure? Modern tonearms should not need oil. Damping fluid maybe.
Nasty Static on Vinyl
audiosaurusrex, are you saying that you hear static through the speakers with the system volume down or just the phono amp muted? If you hear it through the speakers with the system volume all the way down (muted) then you most likely have a groun...
static Issues...anybody know why?
I was not being theoretical lewm. If I were I would say something like, "I think" this that or the other thing. I would let it be known then usually I would come up with some way to try and prove it, an experiment. Great that you did further resea...
static Issues...anybody know why?
kcleveland, in my last post I mentioned that paper will not except electrons so it will not remove static from PVC whereas some plastics will. So the paper sleeves seem to cause more static only because they are not removing any(electrons) from th...
static Issues...anybody know why?
Lewm, thank you for butting in. Static electricity forms when electrons are transferred from one item to another. For this to happen one item must be non conductive (vinyl). If you look up the triboelectric series PVC is almost at the bottom of th...
static Issues...anybody know why?
geoffkait, are you ever inquisitive enough to research subjects that you don't quite understand? I suggest you put your student hat on and read about Newtonian Physics which you should have had in high school. While you are at it you can read abou...
Advice on SUT for Koetsu Rosewood - EAR MC-4, Slagle/EMIA, other
Montaldo, it looks like you are facing a trial and error situation. Trying to audition all this stuff is virtually impossible. If it is a higher step up ratio you are looking for the Sowter 9990 unit is 1:20 for 1-15 ohms. They cost about $100 and...
static Issues...anybody know why?
Well geoffkait with two fs what do you expect when you make an --- out of yourself. I thought we were here to help each other not throw monkey wrenches. If you want to argue at least know what you are taking about. Mike
VPI Uni-Pivit Tone Arms
One of the Origin Live arms would work very well at a very reasonable price. They are lighter than the Jelco arms and will do better with more compliant cartridges like Lyras.
