VPI Uni-Pivit Tone Arms
Not bad millercarbon. Origin Live makes a good tonearm for the money.The low friction excuse for a unipivot arm is fiction as the entire weight of the arm and cartridge is focused on that one bearing. With two contact points the weight is halved o...
static Issues...anybody know why?
Oh, Bla Bla Bla yourself

Cleeds, are you really that ------? The record is moving. Yes geometry is in part responsible for skating. It is called the OFFSET ANGLE. The energy that drives the skating is the friction that pulls the tonearm towards the center of the record.On...
2ch Upgrade for Unfocused Listening
bgrimes, does a table radio sound as good as your current system with indirect listening? If it doesn't you have your answer. I would say about 1/2 of my listening at home is indirect. I would sorely miss the kick of extended bass and a mid range ...
Your favorite Electrostatic, Panel spkr
That is sad vtaoustatx. My first ESLs were oak Acoustat Xs with black grill cloth. They certainly opened up a whole new world for me. They were also beautifully made except for that stupid fiber board rear panel which I threw away. You really don'...

He did not say but only the arm wand is different. The bearing assembly is the same. Sure tooblue you can make them work. Clamps help as you suggest. Staying with more compliant cartridges also helps. Less leverage on the arm. Asymmetrical counter...

Oh, Case Closed:)))

OK geoffkait, you are either kidding or totally out to lunch. Anybody care to comment on which it might be? Anybody care to make a comment on why tonearms skate? I can't bear it. Somebody out there might even believe him! The tone arm is not subje...

VPI now makes a Gimbal bearing tonearm. About time.The unipivot topology came about because it is a cheap easy way to make a tonearm. Don't have to by expensive bearings and worry about tolerances but there is trouble in paradise. To many degrees ...

Power amplifiers with selector Class of operation?
The Parasound JC-1 switches between 10 watts class A and 25 watts class A
static Issues...anybody know why?
Lewm, I think you miss read that. Yes they do mention moving records in and out of sleeves could cause static but it does not. You are only transferring static to the sleeve from a charged record. The amount of rubbing/friction is no where near en...
Turntable/Tonearm choices
rauliruegas, regardless of how well built the Thales is it is in many ways a silly design. First off fewer moving parts and bearings is always best. You want a stiff arm tube. The Syrinx PU-3 was the first to prove that. The SAT arm is the current...
Advice on SUT for Koetsu Rosewood - EAR MC-4, Slagle/EMIA, other
rauliruegas, yes, some tube equipment can be a PITA. But some like my ARC phono amp run perfectly without a hitch. In 20 years I replaced the tubes once. IMHO the tube rolling gig is for people who want to become psychotic.

montaldo, 64 dB gain should be more than enough for the Koetsu. I'm not sure what the problem is. Perhaps it is a loading problem. Is the input impedance adjustable? 100 ohms is perfect for the Koetsu. If you can't adjust it than the Sowter transf...
