Bang for the buck vs. “money no object” cable recommendations
This forum has been valuable in many ways. Not only has it been a fascinating daily read, it has directed me to several central things vis a vis my system. Now the latest: speaker cables. I first knew Silversmith Audio’s Jeff Smith 20 years ago whe...
What equipment should I invest in next?
BTW-love the match of the J2 with the GRs!Although you would also have a near perfect amp for Quad 57s.The current best are Electrostatic Solutions (ESS). They use thicker Mylar and get bass out of the Quads that are unique. If you sold your GRs y...
What equipment should I invest in next?
+1 on the Podiums although you could also get great results with Stillpoints under your Tannoys. Think the$125 Ultra Minis would be ok.  Also agree that you have a really good system especially for a modest price!A super strong recommendation is t...
Looking for my "last" CD transport
I have used a Theta Compli DVD/CD transport for years. I bought it used for about $800. Think it originally sold for $5K. I would say it is comparable to a $20K one today. It does only play Redbook and no SACD.
Are "vintage" DAC's worthwhile, or is this a tech that does not age well
To this day, the Audio Note Level 5 Special is a state of the art, sought after DAC. MSRP in 2008 was $80K! It can only be used to play Redbook and SACD only having a SPDIF input. I feel fortunate to own and enjoy a 3 Dimension Audio DAC which was...
Transport for Benchmark / Peter Daniels NOS DAC
Try to find an old Theta Compli DVD/CD transport. I have been using mine for many years. Their build quality is excellent and overall quality compares to current six figure units. I think the MSRP 20+ years ago was $5K.
Powered Subwoofer connected to integrated amp's speaker outs?
I have tried to use my Rel-like sub using the amp speaker binding posts. Did not notice any real change. It was recommended that I get a Jensen XLR to RCA transformer and run balanced output from my Atma-Sphere preamp the the  single ended input o...
Better Records White Hot Stampers: Now the Story Can Be Told!
Just to chime in as I now am listening to my “bad” copy of CSN&Y 4 Way Street. I do love the music (which is central to buying WHSs) The bad copy was enjoyable but, now listening to the same WHS,the difference is stunning! The extra layer of S...

Good advise. I always thought that the LS50s were uniquely great speakers. For sure, they will greatly benefit from good subs.
What To Replace A Pair Of Lamm Ml2 Monoblocks With? Need More Power
If you can find a pair of ML 2s!Surely, they keep doubling as the impedance drops. The Lamms surely do not.But the Speltz Zeros may address the impedance issue.

ROTFLMAO?Eric clearly is one of the few brilliant crossover (speaker) designers. In speaker design, crossovers are where it is at.The more crossovers, the more problems.
Stereophile's 2021 products of the year
I give a lot of credit to Mike Moffet of Schiit. I first spoke with him in the early '80 when he founded Theta Audio. He had developed pretty much the first functional CD player. I wanted to buy it but he steered me away since he referred to it as...

Multiple drivers. With multiple crossovers are truly difficult to blend.A single driver can be best although they are challenged in the frequency extremes. A two way with proper crossover is the best solution. However, if you already are happy wit...
What To Replace A Pair Of Lamm Ml2 Monoblocks With? Need More Power
Sorry for the double post. System’s fault.Just wanted to mention that you should try the Speltz Zeros with the ML2s. You very well may then get enough drive for the Vandys!
