Most Musical 6NS7 tube for a Preamp?
Aric audio makes a 6sn7 preamp called the Special which can be ordered with or without a remote. The remote version is $3250 I believe. I own the Special and love it. Should i need to replace my BEL 1001 MK5 I am also considering the Pass XA25.
Decent preamp
Sorry about the double post, didn't think the 1st went through.
Decent preamp
The Jolida Fusion is a good recommendation. I have own one for the past 8 years. Used likely would be somewhat over the OP's budget, however. A used Quicksilver would also be nice.

The Jolida Fusion preamp is a good recommendation. I own one. Retailed at $1350. Not often found used. My thinking it is worth $700. That is somewhat over the OP's budget. However if one was to be found at the stated budget it would be a good find.
DAC question, help!
If it were me, and I was happy of the sound coming from my CDP using it's internal DAC I would look for a integrated that does not contain a DAC. Greater choices out there.

The peculiarities of a high value, low cost, amp
I believe that with your Cambridge CXC, Schiit Mani and Saga, and Moab speakers you have a great start towards a very fine budget system. I own a STA 200 and also think it to be a fine amplifier when matched to the right speaker, one not dropping ...
Integrated advice for B&W 705's
For room treatment products check out ATS Acoustics. They are located in Piper City Illinois. I have purchased from them and made DIY panels. They have a good website and helpful over the phone. I am not affiliated, just a happy customer.
Help! Finding a matching preamp to a amp Nuforce STA200
The input sensitivity is slightly under 0.5V. giving rise to the high gain. As other have said best used with a passive preamp. I would purchase a passive with two inputs and use your external phonostage and DAC. I use a Schiit SYS with my STA200....

What source and/or pre are you using to drive your STA200?
Need help ! Looking for a low cost integrated tube amp for my office
Yes, a used NAD 356BEE could be found for under $400. Has 2 sets of speaker outputs and an extra set of pre outs. One could set up 4 channels for the 4 Haydns.
Tone controls -- assuming you're ok with them, when would you try them?
Insertion of EQ between pre and amp allows use for all sources. In an all digital system, where the DAC is used as the hub for more than one source  the EQ can be inserted between DAC and pre.The Loki is a quality piece, at a price that allows one ...
Does this happen often?
Not often enough. Thanks for the link!
Tone controls -- assuming you're ok with them, when would you try them?
+1 tvad. I agree that the best way to use a tone control is via a tape loop or if one has a pre or integrated with a fixed output to run from the fixed output to line level input.
Whats in your second system?
Yea, it is about a 10 minute process to set up. However it serves an entire afternoon/evening session. I once had a Vincent SV-226 integrated. Wish I never sold it. I would be using it in my 2ndary system now. The Pathos serves well however. It do...
