Looking for “just good enuf” for garage man cave
I would stick with 2 channel audio system. Receiver or integrated amplifier with outboard AM/FM tuner. Many newer 2 channel ones have digital inputs in addition to analog ones. If one you find lacks USB input purchase a USB/SPDIF converter for coa...
Maggie 1.7i's lack detail. Ideas?
+2 on the advise of jji666.
Marantz receiver questions
The PM7001 has binding posts that accept standard banana plugs. Go online and search for Nakamichi banana plugs. They attach by inserting speaker wire into a sleeve and tightened with a pair of small screws. A set of 8 are likely ~$10.
euro speakers for Luxman SQ-N150
I believe the Dynaudio speakers require more power than your amp has to make them come 'alive'. I believe you found that out with your Evokes. I do like the Dynaudio speakers I have listened to. I would look for 8ohm speakers at >93dB sensitivi...
Denver and Front Range furniture maker -- just did my audio rack!
I am sure your system will look great on that rack. Maybe get your woodworker to cut you some of the 2" maple as platforms for the mono amps, attach threaded sockets underneath for leveling spikes or feet.
Best streamer/DAC for up to $1500
Well, the Pegasus does look interesting at it's price point ($1100 according to review). If coupled to the iFi Zen streamer would meed your budget. I have not heard either so can't make a recommendation, however maybe one could get home trial. I k...

Great looking rack!
Which complete set of cables to try out?
@habermas  I for one am looking forward to your take on the Zavfino loom.
If you’ve heard an iFi Zen stream, anything better under $1k?
I was in position to purchase the Zen Stream after considering the New Node. I have a good DAC. Based on this thread I believe I will also monitor the progress with the Zen.  Thanks to the OP and all.
Will a new Dac improve the sound?
Another suggestion for the purchase of a MHDT DAC. Excellent products that fit into your budget.  Start with the use of your CD player as a transport. Then consider transport upgrade. Opportunity to experience benefits of each upgrade and consider...
Cambridge Audio axa35 integrated amplifier ?
As an after thought, it is best to keep digital components separate from amplification when possible. Each having their own power supply. Given you have a DAC I would choose between the Cambridge or the Onkyo. They have similar feature sets. The O...
Cambridge Audio axa35 integrated amplifier ?
Well, you want some 'warmth' and don't need a phonostage or a DAC. Maybe find a used NAD 326BEE.  I've been a fan of NAD class A/B integrateds. Have owned the 326 and 356 BEEs in recent years. I must say the Cambridge AXA35 seems a strong contend...
What made you change to a 6SN7 preamp?
+1 bigkidz regarding the 6SN7. I once own a Carver cd player that had the 6DJ8 tubes in analog output stage.  Loved the sound of it, was as good to my ears as many more expensive players in the 90s.
Looking for a new Transport.
+1 jl35  There have been several threads over the last couple years dealing with transports. Several models under $2K. Cambridge, Audiolab, Leak, Nuprime, ProJect, Bel Canto, and others that don't come to mind.
Ethernet cable for Streaming
Well, I am not the one to provide an opinion on optical vs. CAT8 but based on info from other threads on this site I believe a long optical cable with ethernet/optical converter for each end of a long run may be best.  Shortly after initiating th...
