Monitors for 14 x 20 Room I own Fritz speakers. The Carbon 7SE mK2. A great speaker however above budget and would be hard to find on used market. What type to music do you listen to? How would you characterize the room regarding brigtness? Would room treatment on the l...
Monitors for 14 x 20 Room Is the tuner your primary source or are there other sources available or in mind?
Recommendation for integrated amplifier for Paradigm Studio 20s v.5 I can offer 2 suggestions that fit into your budget. I once owned a pair of the Studio 20s Version 4. Drove then with a 100 wpc Vincent Audio SV226 hybrid integrated in a 12 x 15' room. This pairing was wonderful. The tube linestage provided a s...
Is it worth upgrading a CD player? I am with those that suggest the transport route. I believe you can purchase the Audiolab from Audio Advisor or the Cambridge CXC (which I own and enjoy) from Crutchfield with a 30 day trial. Choice comes down to slide (CXC) vs. slot mechanism (...
speakers/ amps liking one another When looking for a stand mount speaker you might try Fritz Speakers. I own his Carbon 7SE MK2. Great speakers not requiring a great deal of power to drive and having plenty of bass. He also has a smaller version of this speaker that may prove bet...
Polk L100s - tube integrated recommendation Audio Advisor sells Vincent Audio which also makes a hybrid integrated. Another thought is to purchase a tube preamp to drive your SS amplifier since it seems to please you driving your Polk speakers.
BOOKSHELF SPEAKER RECOMMENDATION The small subwoofer just might be the most cost effective option. I own Frtiz Carbon 7se MKII which are wonderful and provide good bottom end for a stand mount. I would also be tempted to try the Falcon Acoustics Q7 at the price mentioned by yo...
Help Building an Audio Room @jo1mtb I believe the room LxWxH you are proposing will work well. Check out ATS Acoustics for ideas. The rockwool material can likely be purchased locally and you can incorporate panels into the walls. As oposed to bass traps I placed diagonally ...
Help Building an Audio Room Good job on getting the harley book. Best single source on audio. I once had a dedicated room in a basement. It was 13, x 15, after framing the front wall and the right wall. Other walls were framed interior to basement. I had stand mount speake...
Arcam CD23 worth saving? I would look into the Cambridge CXC or the Audiolab 6000 transport to use with your DAC. THere are better transportsd at much higher prices but either one of these preforms very well.
They still seem to be a hot mess Check out ATS Acoustics online. They sell ready made and DIY products. They can customize to your needs.
To preamp or not to preamp. That is the question. @marco1 Yes I was thinking about suggesting the Freya as an option. Many on this site seem to enjoy that pre. Right now on AG there is a Black Ice Fusion 9 MKII tube pream listing for $999. Black ICe was formerly Jolida. I once owned the Jolida ...
CD player suggestions... @jayctoy Yes I am sure that at their price points both the Yamaha and the Marantz sound wonderful. I recently purchased a Music Fidelity 2scd as an open box item for $900. It is a player that has coax, toslink, and USB inputs so serves as a stand ...
Besides the Audiolab 6000CDT, I can't speak to the Rega question however I do own the Cambridge CXC and it has preformed very well for me. Transports that are considered better cost much more.
CD player suggestions... I would stay away from the Emotiva player. I would go with Marantz or Yamaha if a CD player is what you want. The Audiolab and Cambridge transports are not CD players. They require a DAC. I believe this to be a good way to go, transport and DAC, ... |
