Admittedly a bit lost Badri, I didn’t mean to suggest restriction to monitors, I just prefer them. Always thought they provided better soundstage/imaging for the $$$. That line of thinking may not hold true today. One additional thought I had was that a monitor on soli...
Do I need a pre-amp? I have owned a SG-3 since 1983. It was a great starter turntable then and if in good condition still today. As stated above, you will need a phonostage. I would stick to the moving magnet type cartridge as there are greater choices in carts and st...
Best value in pre-owned preamps right now? I think it depends on the budget. For a truly budget system the Schitt SYS combined with the right used power amp might prove better than an integrated.A used Jolida or Quicksilver tube pre also come to mind as a good deal in a somewhat more expen...
New CD player, Transport or DAC? I am with Lowrider and Melbguy on this. Purchase a quality DAC having more than a single SPDIF input and start by using your 8005 as a transport. You will have the flex to upgrade the transport if you find desirable and/or add a server. Good luck ...
Admittedly a bit lost You have received much great advice above. Pay attention to the Audiokinesis post. I see no problem in finding a quality speaker to match with your Jolida that meets your listening/environmental requirements. I would search out a monitor speaker h...
I know nothing : Budget Under $1k I agree with ZDs position on this, well explained. One additional benefit will be that the power supply in the receiver will only be driving 3 channels instead of 5. That can’t hurt either.
Need New CD Player or new DAC Dylanfan, sounds like a DAC with a tube based output may best suit your taste. I have not heard the Jolida however have the Jolida Fusion pre and enjoy it very much. There are other Tube DACs available but having not heard them I can’t make recomm...
Need New CD Player or new DAC Your 6005 can’t be very old. I would be inclined to go the DAC route with quality cable as suggested by Lowrider57. Buy a used DAC noted to have a good analog output stage. There are many used older DACs that sound very good, only lacking in their...
How NOT to sell an item on Audiogon Enjoyed this post, Thanks!
Rip LP's to Digital Buconero, after trying LP conversion the used CD approach is what i have taken. Download a used CD copy on my computer used the CD in my car, or better yet, make playlists and burn them for my car. Far less time consuming.
Rip LP's to Digital I am not prepared to enter the debate as to approaches to A to D conversion, I have played with a A to D converter with software and found it to be easy to do however dont know what might be best in that approach. I think i might be interested in...
overwhelmed by record rituals +1 Mcanaday, Thanks for the post Whart!
What is the best usb convertor Yes Zd, if I had the resources i also would like to try the Off-Ramp. But then again, I might also be upgrading my entire system.I agree with David, if one was to spend Off-Ramp type $$$ a newer DAC may be in order. Not knowing more about Ramys...
Better than the Project Carbon TT for $ 500.00 I think Johnnyb os spot on. Buy the Carbon DC. Upgrade to the 2M Blue cartridge after wearing out the red. Enjoy your vinyl as is.
What is the best usb convertor The V-Link serves well and is inexpensive. I bought a Link II on AG for $70. I find several on E-bay at $100 or less. I have an Audiophilio 2/Purepower in my main rig. That combo is better however at ~5x the price on the used market. The V-Link re... |
