B&K ST-140 vs 200.1 mono blocks
I believe Unsound has provided you with good info. When considering an upgrade it is best to have defined what improvement one is looking for. If you are happy with the 140 and it drives your speakers to your satisfaction then keep it. Enjoy!

What are you looking to gain by making the change?
"Warm Sounding" Solid State Amplifiers
You might want to check into a Vincent Audio integrated amp.
Bookshelf Speakers with the decent bass
+1 Simao. It seems that for some it is just too easy to take offense to something posted. Almost as if they are looking for that opportunity. Topen, I tend to agree with J135, in that with your budget of $4000 you are in a position to find an amp/...
Sold in one day
Generally I am conservative in pricing what i sell so that it moves. Also when I buy knowing I often will sell the item. I have sold many items within the 1st day. In regards to items I would like to buy that are severely overpriced, I will not bo...
Do Pangea PC's really outperform standard PC's
I use Pangea cable on all my equipment, primarily because they are inexpensive, seem to be well built at there cost point, and have been recommended by many on this forum. That is not to say that there are not better ones available. There have bee...
record out on integrated amp
I must say that I am surprised that the addition of a buffer improved the sonics to that extent. Not questioning your result, just surprised. I am curious: What source (s) are feeding through the buffer? How much gain is afforded by the buffer? Wh...
Are Mac and PC equal?
I have been using Mac/OS. Have both a Macbook Pro and a Mac Mini with Pure Music installed for playback. CDs are ripped as AIFF files using itunes error correction. I have found this to be an easy and reliable path to computer audio. The sonics se...
Rotel DAC
Could easily be the cable. Has your friend tried different ones?
How to divide a budget between components
Most any allocation can be justified by the one making the expenditure.
How to divide a budget between components
I agree that opinions on this will vary widely, but what the heck, I might as well offer another.I believe it depends on budget. For example at budget under 10K I think a balanced approach of ~25% for speakers, amplification, single source, cables...

Sorry, I meant advisors, not advisees.
downloading music versus cd `s quality
As Zd stated, yes CDs can sound as good or better ripped and played through a computer based system than through a disc player. I do both. On your Mac you would need playback software, CDs ripped as AIFF or WAV flies, and a USB DAC. I have found t...
Matching Speakers to Components
I don’t believe there is a single “way around” when assembling an audio system. As long as the chosen components are compatible both electrically and sonically toward ones sonic preferences, one can assemble a system ’source to sink’ or 'sink to s...
integrated watts or amp watts
Thanks, Rlwainwright. However,as i tried to indicate, most of my post was a follow-up to previous advisees. Yes Wolf, paying for excess power at the expense of quality is not a good trade off.
