Audiophilism is a hobby @tomic601 An amazing musician. Buddy's playing and tones are one of a kind.
Audiophilism is a hobby Julie is the writer. Buddy is the producer. Neither could do it alone. I love all Sarah’s albums but Build Me Up From Bones probably tops the list. The new one is infectious and brilliant, but more commercial. Not the free flowing sound of the ot...
Audiophilism is a hobby @bdp24 I'm deep into that whole scene of artists, and fortunately live in Nashville. I've seen Buddy several times, including with Emmylou. Do you know WMOT radio? If not, there's an App. Roots Radio. Enjoy Sarah. Gonna see her next month. Ste...
Audiophilism is a hobby Another dimension to this discussion is appreciating some music or artists because of how good their music sounds. Not my gear, but the recording quality. In 2017 I came across a local news article about a young female recording engineer who was ...

If you have a nice system why do you really need room treatments? There are two aspects to room treatment. One is to improve the balance of the frequency response and minimize room modes, mostly on the low end. This generally requires both diffusion and absorption. Not all rooms need this, and it can be addresse...
If you have a nice system why do you really need room treatments? Have you ever listened in an acoustically ideal room? Think about why some people use headphones exclusively. A properly treated room will make your speakers sound like giant headphones. You'll hear the sound field embedded in the recording instea...
Best for Classic/Progressive Rock and Blues @audition__audio The JBL line is different. The woofers are descendants of the original D130 woofer used in the early JBL HiFi speakers in the 1950s. This speaker, and its many variations, also became the dominant speakers in electric guitar amp...
Best for Classic/Progressive Rock and Blues @akgwhiz The original xover is part of the magic of those models. They are not designed for inductors like the Gravesen design. The way the drivers overlap in frequency ranges above 1500hz is key to their powerful sound. I still enjoy mine.
diffusion at first reflective points + what ive learned about room treatments The primary goal of using absorption is to reduce reverb times. With no back wall, this may be less necessary. By having surfaces that slope, or are not parallel, room modes are reduced as well. So the diffusion adds to this, creating a nice acous...

Can you use both RCA and XLR interconnects into the amplifier? I would be careful. My Parasound A23+ has both inputs and a switch but I don't think they're isolated. When I accidentally put the switch in the wrong position, sound still comes through but a different level. Yours may be different. |
