Bluesound @soix I've been streaming since around 2010 and when HiRez became available I started trials of all 3 services offering it. I thought Quboz sounded best but at that time they had an inexplicable limit on playlist size of 100 songs and that was a...
Bluesound Yes. I got the same reply from Bluesound. Very annoying. A workaround is to use the Amazon Music app to add what you want to your library. Then it may show up in "My Music" on BluOs. I had an existing Quboz trial about to end so I extended it a m...
10dB resonant peak at 40Hz At that frequency, a high pass filter at 50 hz might work.
All around headphone amp recommendations The LTA Velo is worth a look. Or the MicroZotl MZ3. Depending on your budget, Schiit makes some great headphone amps. You could buy 3-4 different ones for options
question about Balanced signals. Depends on the preamp. Some convert to balanced and some just pass a single ended signal down two legs of the XLR.
1 song you never get sick of? A Song for You Leon Russell That piano intro just grabs me and the lyrics are like a mantra.
Hi end audio equip sounds better today than in decades past due to tech - T/F @ghdprentice I’ll nominate my 1978 JBL 4311wxa vintage control monitors. They have a unique design unlike most. The concentric layout of the drivers, the midrange driver wired in reverse polarity, and the simple crossover result in a harmonicall...
Do I Need A SUT @audioman58 The LTA preamp has the Lundahl transformer on input to convert it to SE. You can only use XLR there. The rest are all RCA. Changing the overall gain won't change the difference in level between his phono pre and his DAC.
Do I Need A SUT I see the LTA preamp only has RCA outs so maybe the balanced input is going to be louder. You might be better off going all RCA for consistency. It's not going to affect sound quality with short cables.
Do I Need A SUT The balanced outs are usually 4v and unbalanced 2v. In my experience, that's not been an issue. I would expect the preamp to balance that before it's output. But that's the only thing that comes to mind. I would ask the folks at LTA. Very helpf...
Recommendations for really well-recorded music for high-end audio system demo Jennifer Warnes Rock You Gently The Hunter Actually every track sounds amazing.
Interconnect priority Closest to source usually means lowest signal level. That's what matters in analog.
Anyone know of a good hi-fi store in Nasheville TN? HiFi Buys is the only walk-in store I know of. Mostly conventional stuff.
Food: what does the typical audiophile eat? Do "edibles" count as food?
Help, my system seem to have slowly gotten " bright" Ironically, age related hearing loss can produce this. If we lose certain frequencies, others become more noticeable. So loss of highs can result in upper mids sounding prominent, especially in the sibilance range. Just another joy of aging. |
