user poll on seperates vs integrated I recently moved from separates to an integrated amp (all in 1 actually) and this was a nice step forward. More detail and better dynamics. Awesome. For less than half the cost.
user poll on seperates vs integrated At that price many good sounding options either way. Depends on what you value. Convenience/space savings versus flexibility. Also what features you need or value With integrated devices the professionals have integrated things for you. If you ...
I am just very happy with my system. I’m content as a cat currently as well but KEF meta blades……so tempting! Smaller mbls too. Unfortunately I grew up in Amish country and have a conscience so then I think……so I really need that? Of course the answer is no. Want and need…two ...
How rare is an audiophile Urgent message to all audiophiles: less tweaking and listening and step up the breeding or else.
How many of you streaming? I shuffle my entire library and listen to most every track that comes up. It’s my library so all stuff I like. I will use Roon Radio to launch me into new stuff on qobuz sometimes. Sometimes I play an entire album but albums are a very 20th centur...
Roon….The Gordon Knot of concierge musical services? My PC is just slightly under spec based on Roon published platform requirements. It runs fiine most of the time. But the cpu does get pegged from time to time so I am certain an upgrade on my pc running the core would make things run faster and mo...
Roon….The Gordon Knot of concierge musical services? For the record, I think Roon is the bees knees and the $800 some lifetime cost is very reasonable for a component that does what it does. I went for it when my trial ended. It is music Nirvana for audio people. Especially classical music lovers. T...
Roon….The Gordon Knot of concierge musical services? Roon is pretty cpu and resource intensive in general. Check the documentation for recommended specs running on each platform including windows. I have noted that Roon seemed most resource intensive when I first ran the core and it had to analyze ...
Poll: Most impactful component They all might in any given case. It takes an entire system to make music…..source, amp, and speakers. The rest is secondary.
Internet Noise: A Pest in the Machine Most Digital devices emit rf noise that must be managed somehow. Keep all digital devices as far away from integrated amps or pre-amps as possible. Unless specifically designed otherwise to effectively address noise issues. Most truly good qual...
Can the level of pleasure derived from music be measured? If you stick enough electrodes on me in just the right places....could be! BTW I harge a hefty guinea pig fee per hour but its all good and for the advancement of science. Advancements in audiophilia do NOT come cheap!
Advice on how to liquidate system Very sorry to hear this. If it were me, depending on the severity of hearing loss based on a hearing test, I would look to adding digital signal processing to help compensate. Roon provides great flexibility for that right at the source and mo...
Is there a ceiling limit on what you are willing to pay for an audio component? @mbmi I’m sure those sound very good but I am not a fan of tower speakers with multiple distributed driver designs of any sort in most rooms like mine at home. Maybe in a larger room with more distance to speakers from listening position.
Is there a ceiling limit on what you are willing to pay for an audio component? I can say that currently I would possibly consider going $20k+ for either a pair of kef blade 2s or smaller mbl standmounts. That would do it for me. Until the next great new thing comes along at least. Just maybe some day…… Or I could decide...
What sonic qualities connects to you deeply and emotionally? +1 for @asvjerry comment about Walsh drivers. High end or not they are still the thing that takes my listening experience to the highest level by bringing the music to life. |
