Why Do Cables Matter? People who own the really expensive stuff and still find it lacking assuming its well set up look to whatever else they can at that point to make further tweaks. Wires are a prime candidate. The logic is you have expensive stuff and don’t want to ...
Why Do Cables Matter? Mogami is a smart choice for quality and value. I'd keep those and change anything else if needed.
Best Forum to hear experienced audiophiles exchange thoughts? @danager don’t forget about the improvements an audiophile router can make with this confounded site we are on currently as well eh? 😉
Can I Trust The Music Room's Product Description? I think in the big picture TMR is top tier in regards to overall quality of operation for this stuff, but nobody is perfect. Manufacturer warranties on used items is not something I would bank on rather whatever assurances the reseller can offer.
Going back to headphone ? @mahgister sorry to hear of hard times but glad to hear you made it through. Yup, life is much simpler with just headphones and not having to deal with acoustically challenged rooms. What were the other headphones? I have a few around here I use...
Ohm Walsh 4.300.2 opinions Sounds like circa 1990s second generation 10” Walsh drivers mounted on original Walsh 4 cabinets. Should sound very good if drivers in good shape and driven by a decent power high current amp. I have Super Walsh 2s which are 3rd generation...
Best Forum to hear experienced audiophiles exchange thoughts? Most recently my actual purchases have been influenced most by what hifi and Darko websites in that I find the info provided by both to be consistently both practical and reliable.
Best Forum to hear experienced audiophiles exchange thoughts? It’s an imperfect world. That includes hifi forums. I’ve found this one to be most informative even though the signal to noise ratio can be fairly low at times. That’s because, succeed or not, the “high end” users here do tend to strive for the b...
Dac that has tone and timing? Hmm the DAC built into my Cambridge Evo 150 would seem to fit the bill but the whole shebang only costs about $3K. Added Roon recently and that in particular with the Cambridge seems to deliver meat on the bones along with attack quite well. “Mea...
Internet Noise: A Pest in the Machine Yay! Glad to hear it’s better now.

Shootout: Roon versus Plex, Qobuz versus Tidal: Who Won? @mikelavigne I have 2 Roon ready devices now the Cambridge Evo 150 which has been a revelation in my main system and the new MXN10 in another. My understanding from what I read is Roon certifies devices that are “Roon Ready” which probably involv...
Shootout: Roon versus Plex, Qobuz versus Tidal: Who Won? @soarnatti Roon indicates upsampling is used and The Evo indicates Roon is streaming my CD res flac files to it at 44.1 kHz 32 bit PCM. I have strong WiFi connections and higher res steaming resolution has not been a problem. I did not bypass...
Shootout: Roon versus Plex, Qobuz versus Tidal: Who Won? @audiom3 thats neat that lumin now natively supports Plex. In my case I was running Plexamp on various devices and connecting to Cambridge Evo via USB2, Airplay and Chromecast. I’m sure each case can be different. Also what sounds “best” i...
Shootout: Roon versus Plex, Qobuz versus Tidal: Who Won? @willywonka Part of Roon is it’s digital streaming engine. The details of how the digital streaming is done certainly can and does determine the resulting sound. Roon’s DSP user functionality is simply an extension of that, the part that Roon Gi... |
