How does one get off the merry-go-round?
Instead of always upgrading, another aplroach to sate ones desire for alternate sounds is to build multiple systems in different rooms if tnat is an option. I have 2 already and have eyes on a third in a smaller room using higher efficiency speake...
Is a vinyl rig only worth it for oldies?
I don't see how anybody with a serious interest in the music of TODAY can tell someone they should be doing vinyl rather than digital. Maybe if the recommendation comes with an interest free loan it might go over better. Pay more for a more proble...

The best speaker you ever heard?
I did not hear anything that even remotely look or sound like Maggies at CAF. High efficiency and retro designs did seem to rule FWIW. I heard a more decent mix of "modern" versus more retro sounds though despite physical appearances. So it seems ...
Is a vinyl rig only worth it for oldies?
Atmasphere,I hear what your saying but of course the counter argument is that a test signal is not music so alone it does not completely address the problem.I suspect there are other tests that can be done where digital would measure better. There ...

How does one get off the merry-go-round?
1000w is a good choice all other things aside for 86DB efficient speakers.2000 is a very high damping factor. In general, that is a good thing in regards to assuring good control of driver and avoiding "flabby bass". THat may not be ideal for some...
Is a vinyl rig only worth it for oldies?
Isn't the assumption that "sounds better" which is totally subjective is not the same as "more accurate" to the recording in this case?I think it has been acknowledged that something can sound better and not necessarily be more accurate. Also speci...
Durable under-$70 IEM's for punk, alternative, etc
I have the Klipsch S4 and think they should meet your requirements very well.
Searching for better 2 channel performance?
I'd consider a matching Bryston as a starting point.
What is a high end stereo SUPPOSED to sound like?
Practically, and in an objective manner consistent with modern best practices for effectively leveraging technology, I would define high end by applying the 80/20 rule therefore a high end system must practically be in the top 20% and better tha...
