California Audio Show 2012
I find myself growing extremely skeptical of megabuck small monitor speakers. Once cost goes beyond that of say a Totem Mani or Dynaudio C1, is there really anything more accomplished to justify other than uber-build quality and aesthetic appeal p...
Best Place/Way To Sell My CD Collection?
The going price for average demand used CDs at the only remaining local B&M record/CD shop that deals with them is $6-$7 max. "Budget Bin" titles go for as little as $1.00 up to about $5. Rare still in demand hard to find titles (mostly import...
Are my CAT5 and router my weak link?
Kijanki is correct.
Magnepan Service HORRIBLE???
My recollection of Magnepan service when I called upon it a number of years back (in the relatively prosperus 90's) was it was reliable built not necessarily fast even back then.Home audio is a luxury, not a necessity so FBOFW my experience is tha...
Jerry Garcia, A Legacy?
I think all the less than stellar doodling live recordings of the Dead available blurs the picture in regards to Garcia for many. He was a talented musician that could really deliver when focused and on, but there are too many recorded instances o...
Best Place/Way To Sell My CD Collection?

Original prices for LP albums
Hey, we used to go to the Nevele as a kid! I did not know the origin of the name. Nice trivia!A lot of my records came from Cheap Thrills in New Brunswick, NJ in college. $5.99 sounds like a familiar price but can't remember exactly (1978).
Class A amps or Class D??: Which sounds better??
Atmasphere is right that Class D amp technology is likely still evolving along the technology maturity curve, certainly it is newer than other types relatively speaking. But it has been around a while and has reached a fairly mature state at this ...
Would you trust a local dealer to help you put
"Moreover, I take issue with individual component reviews vs. system reviews. Brand X preamp may we highly touted and reference caliber but only when placed within certain systems. "Yes, me too when the review does not address how the component un...
Why does your turntable sound the way it does.
Tubes versus transistors is a debate unique to high end audio. There are really no other home applications where the discussion is relevant anymore. That's my point. Audiophiles are quite special and unique in that regard apparently. REcords are a...
bipoles/dipoles for music...
With a well executed design, I suspect that there is less fatigue factor in general whenever all the sound is not being fired directly at your ears in the sweet spot. I think this generally lends itself to longer listening sessions, especially at ...
Why does your turntable sound the way it does.
History says the other approaches pretty much replaced idlers becasue they were better.Where other than high end audio do old technologies that were supposedly replaced by newer superior ones gain favor once more?Antique collecting which I love is...
Don't read you'll be sorry
I'm starting to feel a little sorry.
