Most underrated composer of 20th Century?
I always find Vaughn Williams material to be interesting and enjoyable. Good Chandos recordings there! Britten probably deserves more kudos on this side of teh pond as well.

The 4 3 way level adjustments on each of the big OHMs ($6500 pair list) provide 3^8 or 6561 different possible combos to help get them tuned into your room. That's a nice audio toy to play with. Sound great too. THe 500 w/ch Rotels would have been...

Its a good question.
What is behind a "warm" or "vinyl"sound?
Czar,CD is based on principles of Nyquist sampling theory.I have a lot of experience applying that in digital image processing and resampling. It works quite well in digital imaging. I ran a lot of test cases over the years on various forms of dig...

" Laugh In was a hoot in the 60's, now it is just plain silly tripe. "That made me laugh!

Gotta ask the question: what does a "downgrade" mean really?Cost less? No doubt even used market prices do not always indicate relative merit. So a "downgrade" in cost certainly may sound better. Can't be that a downgrade does not sound as good. Th...

Or shop carefully and buy used here on A'gon. As long as you do not overpay, you can always sell and move on.Buying home audio new can be a risky proposition. You never know how things will work out for you in YOUR ROOM. If you do buy new, even fr...

OHM is direct to customer with liberal audition period and return policy. Return shipping cost if does not work out would be only risk I think. A nice option for those with limited nearby choices geographically in particular.
Musician's Challenges
How about Andres' Segovia playing "Leyenda"?Steve Howe's guitar in "Close to the Edge"?So many things Steve Hackett and Tony Banks did in Genesis?
Improving bass from a front ported speaker
BEst way to get optimal bass is to experiment with different speaker positions, toe in/out, height above floor, listening position relative to speakers, etc.In general, proximity to walls and especially corner will tend to increase bass levels, di...

Ever downgrade and have better sound?
Not very often, but it can certainly happen very easily.Strictly a judgement call in my case, but I preferred my small $500 Triangle Titus speakers to B&W P6s I owned prior that cost almost 4X as much. Accessories (I consider wires to be acces...

WIth 500 w/ch amps (similar to BElCanto ref100m amps I use), definitely give www.ohmspeakers.com some consideration. You might save some considerable change in the end and end up with a top notch sound that is hard to beat.In my case, in my larges...
Tone Controls can be so nice.
THe problem I have with tone controls is not that they do not work well, its that each recording is different. Targeting a certain ideal/absolute sound becomes a chore when listening to a wide variety of recordings since each is inherently differe...
