Are audiophiles still out of their minds? DNM Reson ICs still my personal favorites. Minimalist design sounds great and can only cost so much. As long as lack of shielding is not an issue for any particular case.Pangea AC14 power cords for source devices are built like a tank and do quite...

Tube dampeners on ARC gear ... FREE TWEAK OPI put mine on both close to the top but not touching. I have heard microphonic effects in the sound from time to time in the past with no dampers on and this seems to solve the problem though I am sure there are other ways as well. I think GK ...
For Old Timers who experienced the "Golden Age" of Audio of the 60s and 70s. Newer gear is probably better overall in general but the thing that has increased my enjoyment of listening to music at home the most in recent years is the power and flexibility (along with good sound quality) of building my own digital music lib...
Tube dampeners on ARC gear ... FREE TWEAK Lots of information out there from many credible sources about tube microphonics. No voodoo there.Which dampers work best when needed? The standard ones that came on the tubes in my Arc pre-amp seem pretty simple and effective. Others might be ...

Jeff Rowlands Amp and Dac vs. VAC amp and DAC Very solid choice on paper for your speakers and would appear to mate well with tube preamp if desired.
Why are so many companies like harbeth making old speakers designs and charging thousends? I think its just the market is limited these days for many niche high end audio products so profit margins per unit must be higher to stay in business Factor in high overhead costs to market and distribute internationally and such and there you go.
Why are so many companies like harbeth making old speakers designs and charging thousends? Www.ohmspeakers.com sell updated and refurbed versions of their old box designs similar to modern Harbeth for essentially the same price they cost 40 years ago. Don't know how they compare sound wise but the originals were always one of my favor...

Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em? Accursed are you saying you get cabinet noise from vibration? If so I'd talk to JS and maybe take a look inside for anything loose that should not be. I recall internal braces in my old original Walsh 2s coming loose after a number of years a...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em? Accurus the driver is above the cabinet and fires downward into the bottom port so while Inthink floor interactions may be greater than most actual cabinet vibrations may be less. Cabinets are part of what makes the sound though. Easy to add d... |
