Do audiophiles hate large subwoofers?
I am not against larger subwoofers but I am of the opinion that smaller ones that are capable of doing the job in general are preferable. Larger high quality subs may cost a lot more and offer no distinct advantage or be needed in many cases. Also...
Why the fascination with subwoofers?
IT's probably true subwoofers get a bad rap with audiophiles because in many cases they are set up in a manner that adds too much bass which can also obscure the higher frequencies.  But like anything else, its just a matter of doing it right, usi...
Why the fascination with subwoofers?
Here is one very affordable option that I would consider if needed: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00102VWJK/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1
Why the fascination with subwoofers?
Subs are simply just another very flexible and cost effective way to get extended bass when needed or desired , often in combo with smaller speakers with less bass extension, of which there are many very good quality affordable ones otherwise. I u...

Because they work.

The thing with shows is there are may large expensive systems that would probably best demonstrate unique value set up well in a larger room where more is needed but most rooms are smaller scale where size and often associated cost matters less. G...

Are the new Ohm Walsh speakers Audiophile quality?
FWIW both pair of OHm Walsh I acquired >10 years ago still going strong.  I use a 500w/ch amp and play loud regularly.Prior I had Walsh 2s I bought in 1982 that were still going strong when I traded them in for the current ones, after ~ 25 years.
Machina Dynamica New Dark Matter CD and Blu Ray tray treatment?
I may have to come up with my own competing product that will be much better and darker and also matter way more if turns out this is a big money maker.   My Funky Fuses will have to go on the back burner.
Machina Dynamica New Dark Matter CD and Blu Ray tray treatment?
GK,Saying a product of yours "could" make a difference is high praise for Dark Matter compared to most Machina Dynamica offerings. It might even absorb more light or do it more constructively than plastic, who knows? You gotta take what you can g...
Machina Dynamica New Dark Matter CD and Blu Ray tray treatment?
Well, it did make me think about how a laser disk reader works and what effect changes in light levels detected could have. In the perfect case, the sensor is properly calibrated to detect light levels reflected by its laser from the discs surface...
Machina Dynamica New Dark Matter CD and Blu Ray tray treatment?
Glupson,Yes. Like all software, no two programs do things exactly the same way. There are only a few ways to do it well and many ways to do it poorly. I use DBpoweramp. CDs can take much longer to rip with perfect rip where no errors are allowed.i...
