What have you been working on in 2020?
Mostly just enjoying the music but upgraded the computer I run my music servers on a few months ago. Also adjusted placement of the kef ls50s a tad and adjusted bass levels on Ohm F5s. Everything else is locked in so I leave it alone.
Should a reference speaker be neutral, or just great sounding?
Practically reference with this stuff is a pretty useless term though it is good for everyone to know their own personal reference when they hear it otherwise one may flounder chasing unknowns.
Looking for new speakers
What soix said. Try a different source other than phono and see if a problem there too. If there is then it’s amp or speakers. If not that would point to phono rig or phono section of amp. Troubleshooting expensive component systems is not easy bu...
Looking for new speakers
If you hear distortion with new gear upstream, can’t rule out the possibility something there is the source. If it corresponds to the speed of the turntable, could well be an issue with the phono section of your system. What cartridge is being use...
Tin Foil Hat Audio
Also don’t forget that just because something is there does not mean it is better, just different.
Where has been your most effective placement for an aftermarket fuse?
That’s high hopes for any thread. After all this site is here for people to sell things and make money. Hype kinda goes with the turf in high end audio. I’m sure those not looking to profit might be able to behave themselves though.
Where has been your most effective placement for an aftermarket fuse?
One does have to wonder where the pricing will stop on fuses. I don’t see anything much to stop it. Big profits, few facts, many opinions, money to spend. It’s really all about cost. Nobody will object to paying a fair price for a fuse. But hype ab...
Where has been your most effective placement for an aftermarket fuse?
$500...no.Makes these at $240 seem like a genuine bargain. They will only be appreciated, though, in @uberwaltz’s immortal words, by "those fortunate members with the hearing to know that they do indeed work". That is a very good sales pitch for a...
Focal 1028BE2's or Tekton Moab Towers
Apples and oranges. Especially in form factor and how that will play in your room. Either can be made to sound very good if set up optimally.  Personal preferences on sound will also be a big factor.  No assurance Tekton would necessarily be less ...

Apples and oranges.
Where has been your most effective placement for an aftermarket fuse?
Also given the very proper assertion that results reported will vary case by case for many possible reasons (from no noticeable difference to whatever level of awesomeness is reported), it is not permitted to reject any reported results that displ...
Where has been your most effective placement for an aftermarket fuse?
uber,That's good!  Maybe if the usual shillers, obfuscators (chief one is missing in action which bodes well for this) and other hardliners on both sides can tone it down a bit some useful information will come of it.
Where has been your most effective placement for an aftermarket fuse?
Does this mean it is acknowledged that fuse results may vary based on application? That is at least a step in the right direction from the usual hype in these parts to just Spend whatever is possible on the latest Synergistic color, no questions as...
Music from ripped CDs (server)
No sound quality downside with ripping if done correctly at proper resolution. More upside in general playing ripped files with most streamers compared to CD players that must always optically read often defective or damaged CDs in real time. Some...
What has been your costliest mistake in this hobby?
I’ve been streaming over 10 years now and have yet to hear a difference with streamers.  Everything else way more.  Well, all the other usual things anyhow.  It’s the Dac, Mac!
