Why aren't the older members still active ? Products change but principles not so much. Not much new ground broken relating to principles of good sound these days that probably have not been hashed through to death prior.Maybe more so with digital audio where the technology is still evolving...
"Best" speakers new/used under $3,000? OHM Walsh speakers can do it all with any kind of music and might end your search for good. Can be had new or used for that price or significantly less even. For larger rooms, you need larger models, otherwise smaller models used for $1000 or perha...
My audiophile take on the symphony last night. "Funny thing about live music - no matter how bad the acoustics are, you can tell it's live and not recorded."Probably true. What our ears hear when listening is only part of the story though.
My audiophile take on the symphony last night. "The highs were rolled off"The supertweeter must have had the night off.Seriously, you have to attend a lot of live musical performances in a lot of venues (good and bad) to get a real perspective on what music can, should or does sound like. It i...

Why magic at 80 db? I've read any sound over 85 db can cause hearing loss.I suspect our ears are naturally tuned in general to perform best with levels somewhat below that. For our ears to perform at lower levels than they are tuned to (<80 db?)normally requires ex...
MFSL moody blues: are they all so good? "The 2012 inductees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame have just been announced. The Moodies get stiffed again.Somebody 'splain this to me."My understanding is the choices are made by the R&R HOF proprietors and is highly biased accordingly. Ev...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em? Had to mention here that somebody has a pair of original OHM C2s listed on agon for $50 in the NYC metro area. Assuming all is in order, that is a steal! I am tempted to buy despite having no need. The C2s are one of the larger and better 70's vint...

An Experiment in Speaker Placement stage depth generally requires several feet behind to rear wall.assuming a setup in a room that facilitates this, omnis do it best but require even more space behind than normal for optimal results. |
