Do you understand your amplifier?
Foster, that's a very good idea and totally feasible, again at least as a tool for getting people into the right ballpark regarding good equipment choices for their needs.Question will be what is the market for it?I'll add it to my list of things ...
Do you understand your amplifier?
I have a good understanding of why they are good fits into my systems, and I had a decent idea of what to expect they would sound like prior to hearing, but the 80/20 rule is in effect here. You can't know exactly how anything will sound until you...
Does anyone "throw away" Lp's ?
Definitely toss lps in poor condition rather than pass them on. They are worthless unless maybe the cover is in good shape and you want to frame it.
SS amps for merlin vsm
For an integrated in your case, I would want to investigate the Blue Circle option.Or if a pre-amp and mono blocks are an option I'd second the TAD hibachi amp recommendation and pair it with a good pre-amp of your choice.
Why Do You Still Have Vinyl if You Don't Play it?
Ballywho,I have some old 78's also that I recorded to CD and then ripped to music server. I bought an old Admiral ceramic cart record player that plays 78's for $10 at a yard sale. Then I used my Denon recorder to burn to CD. Then I ripped to musi...
Tube preamp with the "most" for 1k used, 2k new?
I like the looks of the Joule but have read more good things about the Dehavilland, FWIW. I am not familiar with the Joule sound but the build quality looks pretty good.
Ohm Walsh 2000 vs MMG vs Vandersteen 2ce Sig?
Its true larger Maggies are more comparable pricewise, but in terms of size, mmg and Walsh 2000 is a fair comparison, if that matters.Maggies must be placed further away from rear wall in general for best results and that can be a problem for many...
Speakers with wide listening window
I do something similar to what AK is saying with my Dynaudio monitors to make them perform more similarly to my more omni OHMs in one of my rooms where I have the placement tweaked for off axis listening.

Great films where music is a central theme.
Blatantly obvious but the sound of Music has to be on the list. Also "The Music Man" I suppose.
Great films where music is a central theme.
OK. Don't watch those or listen to the music if you do then.A movie guide would be a good source of info for movies with a pure music theme.Would "Walk the Line" qualify?Mr Holland's Opus comes to mind. HAven't seen it in a while but I recall a st...
CD's vs Vinyl - Finally hear the difference
THink about back in the golden age of vinyl (50s-70s), the % of what vinyl lovers on this site would have considered good playback rigs in peoples homes. A fraction of a % I would guess. Most records sounded like crap on most peoples systems back ...

Pulp Fiction. Kill Bill.
Paul McCartney live in Chicago
Same true of McCartney when I saw him at Fed Ex Field in DC from primo seats right in the audiophilic "sweet spot" for listening, 1 section back dead center. I'm sure the sound quality was not as perfect as here in the rest of that huge football s...
