Amp suggestios for maggie mg12's
I use a PSAudio Integrated of 500x2 @4ohms into MG1.6s.Bass is only OK. If the MG12s follow Magnepan practice there is NO big dip in impedance and the phase angle of the load is moderate throughout. Load sensitivity of an amp is a function of desi...
Internet Radio sounds better than ripped CDs. Why
Mat, Do you use the analogue or digital outs of your AE? The Analogue outs of the AE are......just OK.I run my AE to an external DAC and it sounds better than small dish radio.Even AFTER I went thru the defaults on the small dish receiver and turn...
Amp suggestios for maggie mg12's
You're only going to get so much bass out of your panels. Congrats, by the way, you'll enjoy them more and more and especially after just a few hours of run in, after the caps form and the mylar get a little flex to it.As for bass? Well, that's an...

Questions about room size and speaker choice
How long will you 2 be living there? When's the wedding? I was just thinking that if you are only going to be there for a few months, some accommodations can be made. You should get it straight right now, where the stereo goes AFTER the wedding, wh...
Sennheiser HD650 Headphone Amp
Got 50 or 60$? Got a soldering pencil? Got the DIY bug?Google 'CMOY Amp' and have a look. Easy to build and depending on the case you choose, portable as well. I ended up doing a mailorder for a few parts, but much was available at the local radio...
What to tell my electrician
I'd need a stethoscope to hear this tranny. The Panamax is way heavy and silent. The fan in the bathroom makes more noise at my seating position.....or even the 'fridge in the kitchen.Know what you mean, though. Late at night, especially, stuff yo...
What to tell my electrician
There are whole-house surge protectors available. I'd install one. These are not MOV type which have a lifetime, but rather another technology which doesn't wear out. Cheap insurance. For short runs, I'm sure that 4x20amp, 12 ga. will suffice. Small...
Polk Audio SDA 2 question
Wasn't the Carver Sonic Hologram the same thing at the preamp level?I remember talk of 'interaural crosstalk delay' and all that stuff.I'd keep away from the SDAs, unless they I could audition them 1st.....and probably for a least a couple days.
Rotel RB1080 vs Odyssey Stratos vs McCormack DNA
Are the popping/clicking noises from the RB the result of heat expansion. OR can you hear them thru the speakers? the 2nd one is IMO FAR worse than heat related expansion. An amp at the 10yr + age category is shall I say.....prone....to problems. C...
Has anybody heard a decompression as good as this?
I checked this out and it it very interesting. The true test of any compression scheme is if it can create a bit-perfect copy of the original.MP3 and others fail this test, losing some informationALAC (Apple Lossless) and FLAC (Free Lossless) both ...
Amp for Magnepan 1.7's
I'm less than sure about this....but if you like the OutLaws, you'll love 4 of 'em.Biamp?OutLaw has some kind of deal where the more you buy, the less expensive per unit it gets. Some kind of shipping deal, too.
Bi-wiring with different metals?
It is just vaguely possible for thermoelectric effects to be audible. Probably NOT on speakers, but almost certainly on MC phono, where such effects could amount to a couple MV DC.
Shakti Stones Do they actuall work guys.
probably needed more burn-in time.
Transport for Cambridge DacMagic
Please post if you ever use your DACMagic with an Airport Express. The CA 840c originally would not lock on to the jitter prone output from the AE, though they claim a software 'fix', which should also be on all new production.
