Can Vandy's get along with cats?
OK, I will. sounds nutty, but than, so too are cats. I know cats ALL seem to hate having a balloon rubbed on 'em than it sticks due to static. They back away and it FOLLOWS! OMG! It's after me!
how much power
Onemug,Impedance being fairly flat is only one key to Maggies being an 'easy' load. Second is line source. They couple very 'efficiently' into a room and don't drop level as rapidly as 'box' speakers of conventional design. The difference is not s...
stripped allen wrench screws
Mc,I'd NEVER want to use a Dremel around my fine electronics. All it'd take was a single metal flake / chip / particle to short between a couple board traces and you'd be .......well, really mad at yourself.chayro: do you mean 'Torx'?
Can Vandy's get along with cats?
What idea, Palsar? Banana scented insense in the listening room? The ONLY safe to thing to say about cats is that they are ALL different. I've even seen pictures of cats that'd go into a swimming pool voluntarily. My big orange one would see the f...
How do we remember 1970s amplifiers?
I loved my Kenwood...KA-7100 of the late '70s. Good with my 12" 3-way JBL 4311 clones from RSL....(SoCal Boutique brand) and later with my first panels...some MG-1s.Since I was poor, I did a snip/snip....solder/solder and attached cables with RCA...
Can Vandy's get along with cats?
I know it's not citrus, but my big orange cat would eat Cantelope until just shy of (the cat) exploding. Also, any and all pizza toppings. His littermate/sister would eat ONLY cat food, not even a nibble of Porterhouse or BBQ Chicken would tempt.
Speaker Upgrade
Am I the only person who thinks a near CUBIC room of 20x20x18 may have some acoustic problems?
Can Audio Physics be run on low power tubes?
Chazz, regardless of the sensitivity, B&W is generally not a tube friendly load due to being a fairly highly reactive speaker. mucho phase will take the starch out of most amps.....
Can Vandy's get along with cats?
My cat, Renfield by name, NEVER went near my Maggies. When Renfield was gone a few years and I replaced him with a pair of littermates, THEY never went near 'em, either. One of the sofas was the worse for wear, however, and the big orange one like...
Need advice: Biamping vs. dual bridged monos
biamp power needs are based on crossover frequency. The 50:50 point is (around) 350hz. So, if the crossover is higher, the bass amp will run out of steam first...if the crossover is lower, the treble amp will have problems at the highest levels. Y...
Decent budget Blu-Ray
I'd love a PS3.....Too bad it's made by Sony, a company which IMO has gone about as far downhill as possible in some aspects of customers service. As 'proof', I ask only that you spend a few minutes looking up the RPTV debacle of the last decade. ...
Help Me Save A Few Bucks On New Amp Purchase
Pass amps make come in 'watts' but the website lists max output voltage. Simple math will give Caperd the current.....But, the real issue is the B&W speakers which while rated at a certain sensitivity, certainly are also a bad load. At least t...
Is bi amping really a trade off?
Yes, indeed, Al, I was ref'ing the amount of POWER needed by frequency band. The 50:50 point is around 350hz while 4khz means you need only a fraction of the power total at and above thate frequency. That's why people who have a pair of identical ...
Looking at simple set-up for iMac to preamp
The MAC optical outputs are great. You'd have to add a DAC, however.IF the confuser is located away from the stereo, you could use an Apple TV or an Airport Express, either of which can be run in 'client' mode...that is, without a wireless network...
Is bi amping really a trade off?
IF the '685s follow normal B&W practice, they are a real handful in the lowest couple octaves and may even dip to 3 ohms with a largish phase angle. This is amp killer territory. With a crossover at 4khz, you could do with an amp of 1/4th the ...
