What does one purchase after owning horns?
People almost always ignore comments such as Atmasphere's:"Just to dispel a couple of common myths, Sound Labs are capable of impressive dynamics..."This was my experience. I was actually, very, very pleasantly surprised at how dynamic they were. ...
Is this enough power?
Good, question--but YOU, are the only person that can answer this question. It works for ME, on paper...but that doesn't mean you'll be satisfied.Good listening,Larry

Macrojack,Come back in a year or so...if you've stopped, 'Forever' (chasing the Holy Grail), we'll believe you.A 'Pause' is not like quitting...my Dad, (God Rest His Soul) used to say, 'I can stop smoking Larry, I've done it a dozen times.' Someho...
Soundstage, Imaging, Detail & Presence??
Ngjockey...sometimes I get caught up in the 'comment' side of this, that I fail to 'carefully' read...then analyze the intent and deep meanings of the well written posts. Its not that his post is Zen-like, its simply that what he says, captures the...
Vandersteen 5A Speakers
Of course, you're right up to a point. Here's that point. My comments were, that the size room he has, depending on which wall he uses, accommodates this.About 8' listening distance is the reccommended for most 'fixed' time aligned, (I made that up...
Why Not More Conversation about VAC?
Mribob,The allure of tube rolling is a force, the temptation great. One can almost change, with a new tube, the overall sound presentation of their preamp. However, if the manual states, 'do NOT'--before considering a change, I'd want to personall...

Perfect Debute Albums
Nancy Wilson, Cannonball Adderley, so titled, was her coming out album--and IMHO, she's yet to top that. She was a kid really, from where, Dayton??? Certainly Ohio as I remember.'Save Your Love For Me', 'The Masquerade Is Over', and all the instrum...
difference between an active and a passive preamp?
Larry to tower...get ready for the flames...here comes a statement which will be trounced on...Personally, I've NEVER liked passives...ever.They sound 'washed out' to me. It's almost as if the input signal to the pre is somehow absorbed more than ...

Audioconnection said it well...that plus, I've never let the room shape/size dictate the speakers I own. That doesn't mean that I haven't had more and less success in terms of sound.Knowing the golden ratios by heart, doesn't mean that any of us a...
Does power conditioning really matter?
The PS Audio Power Plant, I believe it's called, though they recently discontinued one and introduced another--completely regenerates the power...doesn't try to 'clean it up', regenerates a perfect 60Hz 120V signal.IMHO, this is the only way to go...
Disappointing Evening
Mrtennis,"are people so insecure that they want or need to impress ?"You were being sarcastic with this question right? You weren't serious...tell me/us you really were kidding, right? The human existence is a continual series of 'how to impress', ...
Album which you have listened to most?
The new and current winner is Renee Olstead...left it all all day, the day I bought it.WOW, for anyone who hasn't heard this girl--go buy the album, she's magic.Good listening.Larry
Vienna Acoustics sounded terrible at Magnolia
Mike,Having owned the Mahlers, and loving them I have a question since I know their sonic signature.I wouldn't have chosen Mac for power as I would have thought it too rounded...sort of a ripe plus ripe equals too ripe.Apparently that's NOT the ca...
Does a Class D amp match well with Thiel Speakers?
There is an incredible struggle going on in design work.Design is about 1's and 0's, X's and O's--formulas.Music is about emotion and feeling, (think Micarelli playing Emmanuelle with Botti or, you name the piece). The two posters here, duking it o...
