Norman,  PR99 is a very versatile unit though it was marketed mainly to radio stations. It was used more as a playback unit rather than for recording. When I had mine I really liked it. The CCIR mod to PR99 is not a complex one I had planned on ch...

Inna,   Studer is the Rolls Royce of RtRs built for studios. For home use Otari won't disappoint. Otari stopped making RtRs just a month or two ago, but you can still buy a new one from leftover stock. It retails at $9K+.Good Luck.

Norman,  I seem to like the CCIR eq over NAB, that's probably the reason why I didn't like the Revox that much. Tandberg with it's DynEQ and Actilinear implementations have nailed the sonics, especially the headroom with DynEQ.I have a couple of r...

For me playing music on RtR is a ritual I like. I'm a BIG Tandberg fan. I have a Tandberg TD20A SE 1/2 Tr High-Speed deck. I had a Revox PR99 MKII also, but when it came to sonics Tandberg was a clear winner. I'm not sure if it was the CCIR (on Ta...
Dynavector 20xH - Boring Presentation?
Thank you all for the suggestions. I did go ahead and buy Rega RP6 with a Shelter 501, an amazing combination. The PSU great on the RP6. Still breaking in the cart and the table.
Dynavector 20xH - Boring Presentation?
Thanks for the input Viridian. I thought about that too, but was unable to make up my mind, the DL160 is getting old and the Dyna is not to my taste. So wasn't sure which way to go. I did audition Nottingham Interspace Jr, it was good but doesn't ...
Dynavector 20xH - Boring Presentation?
Oh, when I meant the dealer will keep the deposit I meant a refundable deposit. I always get my deposit back so no issues :-)
Dynavector 20xH - Boring Presentation?
RockyBoy, My dealer usually loans me his demo carts. The advantage is the cart is already broken in, so you get to hear the cart's full potential. If I like the cart, he'll order a new one for me. He'll give you an option to buy his demo cart for ...
Dynavector 20xH - Boring Presentation?
Bifwynne, at this time I'm contemplating between Shelter 501 MKIII and Koetsu Black. I'll be auditioning both and see which ones I like. None of the local dealers carry Lyra so auditioning that will be difficult. Same is the case with Dynavector s...
Dynavector 20xH - Boring Presentation?
Thank you all for the suggestions. The SRA was a typo I meant to type 92.5 degrees. With the 4mm spacer I get that VTA.Yes sir, the 834P is in MM mode. I'll give it some more time, but I have a feeling that Dyna is not to my taste. Probably I like...
Anyone hear SF Venere's? Thougts?
Hello Mezzanine, Thank you. The Hales were good speakers but the SF 2.5 bettered them in the mids and highs. You're absolutely right, the Hales had a 10" Peerless bass driver and a 4.5" custom Vifa midrange. The tweeters were off the shelf Vifas. ...
Anyone hear SF Venere's? Thougts?
Hi Mezzanine, Thanks for a detailed opinion. I share your thoughts on how they sound when powered by a mid-fi AV receiver, I did try connecting SFs to my home theater receiver (an older Denon AVR 3806), they sounded dull. I have had the SF 2.5s fo...
Main speakers cut out when sub powered on
Hi Zd I have the main speaker cables and the sub cables sharing the same binding posts on the integrated i.e. connected in parallel.
Main speakers cut out when sub powered on
Hi Almarg, Sorry I misread the first sentence in your post. I'm using an integrated amplifier, it doesn't have balanced outputs and is not bridged. Best Regards
Main speakers cut out when sub powered on
Hi Almarg, Thanks for a detailed explanation. Although I doubt it's the AC line voltage drop because, when I have the sub disconnected from the amp, powering on the sub has no affect on the main speakers/amp, it's only when the sub is connected to...
