Nakamichi Cassette Decks
@vinny55  not at the moment as I have had these decks restored very recently. The BIG Nak I bought directly from Willy Hermann and the Tandberg were restored by (Late) Ken McQueen. I'll let you know if I change my mind ;).I'd agree that the 682 ZX...

Nakamichi Cassette Decks
"Tinny" might be the wrong word, but definitely "thinner" sound. It didn't do justice to acoustic instruments and it was fully refurbished by Willy. Dragon has it's strengths (NAAC) but it's definitely not the best recorder.
Nakamichi Cassette Decks
I've owned my share of decks; Nak RX202, Nak Dragon, Nak ZX-7, Tandberg 3014A, Nak 1000zxl. Sold all Naks except for the 1000zxl and the two Tandberg 3014As. 1000zxl is the only Nak I love the sound of, the rest were a little on the tinny side.
Power cord replacement suggestions
@nutty, I tried on my previous DK Design VS1 MKII and my current amp, Audio Analogue Maestro Settanta (70). The Blue Heaven did have any effect on either of the integrateds
Power cord replacement suggestions
I'm late to this thread but my experience is the most dramatic effect was when I replaced the stock cord on my phono pre (EAR 834) with Nordost Blue Heaven. I tried the cord on my int. Amp with no discernable sound improvement.
What's been playing on your turntable and what turntable is it ?
Benny Carter, Jazz Giant (Analogue Productions 45 RPM)Rega RP6, Ortofon Quintet Black into EAR 834P phono.
Who thinks $5K speaker cable really better than generic 14AWG cable?
In my system, silver cables sounded very bright. I couldn't listen to it for long durations. I swapped the Omega silver cables with Nordost Blue Heaven and am happy with them.
Who thinks $5K speaker cable really better than generic 14AWG cable?
Very interesting post indeed. I'm part of the "cables make a difference" camp. Even my spouse, who by the way doesn't know anything audio, could hear a difference when I swapped out AQ mid-level cable (don't remember the model) with a Acoustic Zen...
Integrated recommendation help
kielecki, I have Audio Analogue integrated amps to drive SF Venere 2.5s. I previously used AA Verdi 70 and now I use AA Maestro 70. Very happy with the sound. As paraneer said, with 6 Ohm impedance and 89dB sensitivity you have a wide set of optio...
Harbeth P3ESR or Monitor 30?
Also, the P3s are not suited to all kinds to music. They do excel in some, but if you push them too much all you can hear is congestion. If I were you, like others said, I would go for the 30
Upgrade from Sonus Faber Venere 2.5 to ?
Thanks for the suggestions xti16 and soix. I agree with you on the performance of Veneres, they perform very very well for the price. The one thing I liked about the PMCs is their diminutive size. They’re rather narrow and short compared to the Ve...
Upgrade from Sonus Faber Venere 2.5 to ?
Thanks for the suggestion. My room is 14' x 18', speakers against the 14' wall 8' apart and 8' from the listening position. The amp certainly sounds great. Before the AA Maestro 70 I was driving the SFs with AA Verdi 70 and DK Design VS-1 Ref. MK ...
Amps which are Great, but either Unknown or Underpriced
I'd vote for Audio Analogue great sound for not a lot of money.
Reel to Reel uses -
Agree the Sony APR series machines are cool looking. One had come up for sale locally for $600 I almost pulled the trigger on it but again virtually non existent spares and the sheer size of the unit discouraged me. Nevertheless awesome machine.
