"Re clamps, rings etc, there really is no need, the Reso Mat does away with the need for these." In reality, the ResoMat represents a contrary opinion vs clamps and rings. Thus it does not "do away" with rings and clamps; it represents a 180 degre...

Raul, Sadly, no more MF200s are available from that source, not even styli.
Active FETs vs. Step-up phono stage designs
Thanks for that URL, Dave. I did not know about MAT12. I wonder if it is equally suitable to our application, compared to the MAT02.

Spirit,I should not have been so specific in naming one single vintage MM or MI cartridge that would knock your socks off, if properly implemented. Others include but are not limited to: Grace Ruby, Stanton 980LZS (and other extinct Stanton models...
Active FETs vs. Step-up phono stage designs
The MAT02 certainly lives up to AW's opinion of it in the context of my preamp. I have two extra pairs, just in case. (As you know, the MAT02 is a dual section device, so one of them suffices for each balanced channel, and the section matching in ...
Optimum MM cartridge loading
Good to know about the upcoming Liberty phono stage. And Raul points out the EAR 324, which I have also never heard, but it has a good reputation. (Because of its very flexible loading, I have long been curious about it.) Then there is the K&K...
Optimum MM cartridge loading
I think the most cost-effective solution is the K&K audio TOTL phono stage, balanced version. For a bit extra you can have it with adjustable loading, and in my opinion, balanced phono is an advantage as well, for around $3K or less, in factor...

The Astatic vs the Strain Gauge. One costs a few hundred bucks, and the other will cost several thousand bucks. So there's that to think about. If you are disappointed in the Astatic, you would lose maybe $100 on the re-sale; maybe less.
Active FETs vs. Step-up phono stage designs
Dear DHL, The late Allen Wright told me much the same thing about the scarcity of high quality discrete transistors that he experienced in building his two phono stages, FPV and RTP. I was implementing a hybrid dual differential cascode input stag...
LP12 owners: Anyone try the Tiger-Paw Khan yet?
Khan, Keel, Klone, etc... Do the Kardashian's lawyers know about this?
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Sounds like a troll to me.
Stop me before I buy, or help me choose...
What I was implying: You can double your money and get crap, that the relationship is neither linear nor logarithmic (although, sure, sometimes it is in fact). There is no substitute for careful research and an understanding of what you are buying.

Dear Tony, No slur intended, but you must know that your anecdote means nothing, save as a comparison of the Benz Ref to the DL103R. While I do believe that "you get what you pay for", up to a point, I also believe that beyond a certain point one ...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
I am hooked on MM cartridges, nevertheless.
Denon DP-62L users out there?
Dear W8aaz, I believe you would find that the S-shaped arm wand is identical to the straight pipe you own, in terms of pivot to stylus distance and effective length. The only difference is in effective mass, most likely. Yes, you likely would be b...
