Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Harold, I doubt that the sibilance is related to the imperfect cantilever alignment.
High quality AC turntable motor
Lohanimal, a mains sign wave regenerator is what you need in the context of a controller for an AC synchronous motor. "Angling the power.." Sounds to me like another way of saying the same thing, hopefully. Perhaps the K K will be cheaper, but it ...
New AMG tt just arrived.
Dover, It is indeed "unbalanced", if you want to balance it on the head of a pin. But I do like the way the plinth follows the curve of the platter on one end. In my belt-drive days, I had come to the conclusion that BD tables thus designed have a...
New AMG tt just arrived.
Presumably you are also using a phono cartridge to achieve this level of euphoria. Can you say what that is? Phono stage?A cartridge makes a very tiny amount of voltage and current, not enough really to "break in" a phono cable in a month or two, ...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
The "new" Clearaudio line of MM cartridges is not "old news" to me. But thanks for the information; it's much like what is written in Stereophile or TAS or wherever I saw the notice of the existence of these cartridges. I never went for a Virtuoso...
Has anyone listened to the soundsmith Paua cart
I am not sure a conventional SUT would mate at all well with an MI cartridge, such as the Paua, because of its likely higher inductance and possibly higher internal resistance than that of any LOMC cartridge.
Has anyone listened to the soundsmith Paua cart
You own it. Why not listen to yours and tell US what it sounds like. It seems the Sussuro and the Paua are rather rare birds, which is why there are probably not to many reviews available. I thought about buying that one myself. The reason for usi...

JB, I have been wresting with your issue about censorship. You keep posting successfully your complaint about the fact that your posts are subject to "Moderator Approval". But what has been the negative effect of the Moderator's unwanted attention...
High quality AC turntable motor
Seems like Townshend makes a motor controller, called "Merlin II". I would go for that, if I were in your position.
High quality AC turntable motor
As others said, and I agree, a good motor controller that mates well with your stock motor will probably do you more good than a new motor with higher torque. Townshend turntables in general are well regarded and well designed. I would therefore g...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
I admit that I read both S'phile and TAS, but just for laughs and for something to read when there's nothing else to read, I swear. In the latest issue of TAS, I note mention of an entirely "new" line of Clearaudio MM cartridges, replacing, respec...
Replace VPI TNT rubber belt with nylon thread
I have no gripe; as noted, I switched. I was only trying for a bit of levity. If you read what others have posted here and elsewhere about fussing with belts of various kinds, I hardly think you can deny that the belt per se is bothersome if one i...
An impression of some phono stages
Sorry, for some reason I got the impression you were willing to spend 4000 Euro, which surely is a lot of money. So is 2000 Euro. In the for sale section of Audiogon, there are many great choices within that considerable budget; you could get a Pa...
Old TT vs New TT: Rebuilt Dual 701 or Rega RP3
If the model 701 is a direct-drive Dual with the coreless motor, go for it. It should outperform the Rega in stock form. If you want to pay for and install the many upgrades recommended by others for the Rega, perhaps that's a different story, but...
Replace VPI TNT rubber belt with nylon thread
You guys are describing why I gave up on belt-drive turntables entirely.
