Elvis Costello's favorite album of his own. This Year's Model is my favorite for sure. My Aim is True had great songs but having mellow Marin County band Clover play the music ruined that album for me; the live versions with the Attractions are great, though!

Certain frequencies hurt Would using a headphone amp with your headphones possibly help? Those Sennheisers sure don't need speaker amp type power....
Hearing aid question I'm glad that Widex has improved their app. A few years ago I got a pair of Widex in-ear hearing aids for listening with headphones, and the app seemed like somebody's very first app design project in elementary school.

Is the idea of audiophile listening a dying concept as boomers die off? @jl35 +1
Hearing aid question My hearing loss is in the top end, too, and I've always worn custom ear molds that are not 'open ear'; there may be 'open ear' custom molds available, but I've not seen them. Domes, on the other hand, usually have openings for air and room sound t...
All around headphone amp recommendations I've tried many different headphone amps, but as others have said, can't really make a good recommendation without a budget. There's decent $100 ones. There are awesome $10K ones. And a whole lot in between.
Is the idea of audiophile listening a dying concept as boomers die off? Nope. Every generation has enough people who care about the finer things in life and can afford them, be they cars, watches, hi-fi gear or any other 'luxury' items to keep the industry going strong. And those people will continue to have ears an...
Technics Turntables...really??? I've had an SL1200G for the past 4 years and that is one awesome TT.
Differences between Harbeth, Spendor, Graham, etc. ? @macg19 - Indeed, it was my bad getting those to begin with for my taste in music; that is not what they were designed for; amazing I lasted with them as long as I did. But I replaced those with Fritz Carrera BE's, which are amazing rockin' speake...
Differences between Harbeth, Spendor, Graham, etc. ? I had Harbeth Super HL5's for a few years with an MSB S200 power amp. Great for classical, jazz, and more acoustic music, but I found them very lacking in punch for the rock music that I listen to...
What was the most expensive record that you ever bought ? @hysteve - I'm sure it sounds great, but that must have been the one reviewer who didn't think the QRP double-45 sounded best. Different setups, different systems, etc, it's all good, but personally I have yet to hear a double-45 that didn't sound...
Sphere! @stuartk - Indeed, they are different sounds, but neither does that much for me. I'm not really into the 'jam band' thing. What I love about the Grateful Dead that most other 'jam bands' lack, in my opinion, is songwriting chops and distinctive si...
Sphere! @stuartk - Hi Stuart - yes I am, but I'm not much of a fan of Black Crowes or the brothers - they're great, for sure, but just not for me.... |
