Why recordings made before 1965 sound better. They don't sound better to me, because I don't like most music recorded before 1965! 😁
How much gear do you own? Too much!! Yeah, I've got multiples of amps, headphones, speakers, cables, tubes, etc etc etc... Some are up for sale now on Audiogon or USAudiomart, and some need to be! I've got so many empty boxes for gear in storage right now, 'cause they won...
How eclectic is your taste in music? I am 70 years old and like punk, post-punk, 'indie', intelligent metal, roots and dub reggae, some hard rock, some 'pop' for sure, some hip-hop. I don't dislike classical music as long as it's instrumental. But I don't much care for jazz, country,...
The Boss is the Bo$$ @artemus_5 - whenever I hear somebody described as having 'saved rock and roll' or some such nonsense, I just laugh. Rock and roll was not waiting around for Broooooce or anybody else to save it. Didn't need saving....
The Boss is the Bo$$ Saw him twice on the 'Born To Run' tour and once on the 'Darkness' tour, and that was it - awesome, 4-hour performances, but I got what I needed. I don't think I've ever owned any of his albums, though. Got a lot of respect for him, just not my st...

An Artist's Pinnacle @stuartk - where did you see that the Grateful Dead overdubbed vocals on Europe '72? Not saying they didn't, but I've got the box set of the entire Europe '72 tour - I know there weren't any overdubs on THAT! 😃 I loved that 2nd album from The Band...
Brian Eno's Turntable Design Some guy says he has no idea who Eno is, but he's happy to describe his music as vapid, empty, and soulless.... This is obviously meant as an art piece, not some kind of advanced turntable technology....
DAC Upgrade @danto - How do you like those Fritz speakers?? I’ve got a pair of Carerra BE’s - took a few months to break in, but they sound awesome now!
Introspective of this forum: "Does the Audiophile Community Have a Promlem?" I Say yes!!! Just now read both parts of the article, and I pretty much agree....
Introspective of this forum: "Does the Audiophile Community Have a Promlem?" I Say yes!!! Might also just be the nature of forums and message boards. I've been on ones for all kinds of subjects and people will start arguments about just about anything, some more than others. People can say a lot of things anonymously that they wouldn't...
Dang it, I'm Deaf.... @bob540 - I turned 70 in September, and I've had tinnitus for many years, and for me it manifests as a 'hiss'. Sometimes it's louder, sometimes it's quieter. It's possible that this is what you are experiencing. You might want to consult an audiol...
More expensive = better? @oddiofyl - Quicksilver gear is excellent; I had the tube headphone amp, and for under $1000 that thing is a steal. I've since sold it and moved up to Eddie Current and Auris Nirvana, but the Quicksilver served me very well for many a month....
Michael Nesmith @thecarpathian - from Wiki, here's the story of Mike's involvement with the origins of MTV... This concept seemed intriguing and had the potential to be taken in a more advanced direction. Robert W. Pittman would be the guy who would be at the fo...
More expensive = better? Not all the time, of course, but it's not a bad rule of thumb to start with, at least with certain types of gear.... |
