Can left brain- right brain balance affect what you hear?
Most of what you say is true and makes sense, I believe. But I've never had any problem with turning focus on rhythm (or anything other component of music) on and off - depending on how the recording is done, I can concentrate on each of these com...
Best rock bass player
@chowkwan - fyi - there's another thread under music that begins with 'Great Rock Bassists' that's a lot more recent than this one, which is almost 4 years old. And yeah, Lee Sklar is a great bassist!
Songs that sound like Dylan
Quite often Dylan himself doesn't sound like Dylan...

Great Rock Bassists your Top 10.Rock not Jazz. But Hey what about Reggae
@gavman + 1  One of the most amazing shows I ever saw was Sly & Robbie and their dub/roots band play a set over 3 hours long here in San Francisco about 10 years or so ago. Reggae is great, yeah??!!

@gavman - 'Best reggae bassist by a country mile', and no mention of Robbie Shakespeare? Perhaps you're not familiar with Sly and Robbie - you should check them out....
12x7 tubes
I always buy my tubes through Brent Jessee - the tubes he recommends have always been a good upgrade to my gear...  Just got one a few weeks ago, in fact.

Focal Clear Headphone Cable Problem
I buy my 3rd party headphone cables from Moon Audio; I've got their Black Dragon cables for 3 of my headphones. Not super-cheap, not absurdly expensive; pretty good value for money, imo....

@bdp24 - I think the best way to get Jack's tone would be to be Jack! Guild even put out a 'Jack Casady' model, but a lot of folks who bought it expecting to sound like Jack were disappointed.
i hate Beatle fans. (REFERENCE TO ANALOG PLANET article)
Yeah, that Paul McCarthy was really something else. Wasn't he in a band with John Lemon?
Best Rock Drummers
Totally agree with Aynsley Dunbar's work on 'The Grand Wazoo' - I'd also nominate Simon Philips for Phil Manzanera's '801 Live'.  And Ringo is awesome - what an amazing drummer he is...
Forgotten heavy bands from late 60's to early 70's
@lordmelton - it might be Greenslade, but Roger did SO many album covers back then, who knows what I was thinking of?  That Medicine Head one - wow, that's a real obscuro!!
Best Rock Drummers
Also wanted to add Phil Collins - what a superb drummer!
