Woofer pumping possibly due to tube amp when playing vinyl
@ last_lemming, What cartridge(s) are you using with the Prime?  It's a good chance that someone reading this thread may have the same combination and they can check to see if they are having a similar issue.

Should have mentioned that there is a resonance calculator on the Vinyl Engine site that can be used to estimate resonance based on the effective mass of the tonearm, compliance of the cartridge and the weight of the cartridge/hardware.  No substi...

Very good advice from @atmasphere.  Many records are available that have tracks for testing both lateral and vertical resonance of an arm/cartridge combination.  Certainly worth measuring if you haven't already.
Update on Audiogon Member Almarg
I can't count the number of times I've scrolled through long threads on Audiogon only stopping at the almarg posts to help me separate the wheat from the chaff.  His contributions were always informative.  But, more importantly, they displayed a p...
Woofer pumping possibly due to tube amp when playing vinyl
The operable range of the speaker is usually described as the range in which it will reproduce sound, which is why a +/- dB specification is the norm.  That doesn't necessarily describe the range of frequencies that the speaker can physically resp...

@ last_lemming, have you measured the vibration at the turntable platter directly?  I have an app on my phone that will measure vibration on a surface in the X-, Y-, and Z-axes.  It might be instructive to get some sense of the magnitude of any di...
Sub Sonics and woofer pumping
Given what you’ve said about the rumble being worst in the lead in groove it would be worthwhile to try a periphery ring. I use one and it is very beneficial in terms of vertical movement of the record.
I underestimated the impact a new cartridge would have

One Channel of Magnepan Mini Maggie sounds lower than the other
The mini maggies are dipoles and very sensitive to position.  Were the speakers they replaced also dipoles?  Is the proximity of the left and right channel mid/high panels to the walls similar (e.g., is one much closer to a wall or corner than the...
What do/did you do for a living?
"Not top tier, but sure puts a smile on my face."  Sounds your system is doing EXACTLY what it's supposed to do.

Good analogy whoopycat.   We should continue to investigate the nature of audio reproduction, perception, and appreciation.  Certainly, at this point in time all of the meaningful measures have yet to be defined and curiosity about what is missing...
Finally took the Bryston 4B Cubed plunge
professorsvsu - congratulations on your 4B-SST3.  Bryston makes excellent equipment and is an outstanding company.  I agree with the synergy between Bryston and Audio Research.  I have a 4B-SST2 that is paired with an LS28 preamp and I think it is...
