Which magnepan
While I agree that your room is probably big enough for the 3.x series, I think you would be very happy with the 1.7i.  I have both the 3.7i and 1.7i.  I think the 1.7i provides very close to the same musical performance as the 3.7i at a much lowe...
Magnifier To Help Set Up Turntable
I use this:https://carson.com/products/magnivisor-deluxe-cp-60/The optics are decent, the interchangable lenses are convenient, and the aimable light is pretty effective.  Really handy for cartridge alignment and even for cleaning styli.LarryRS
Researching Preamps
+1 on the Van Alstine Vision phono pre.  Very flexible in terms of loading and gain as well.
ARC Ref 5se inferior to LS28?
wjt3, +1No one had addressed the original question - a sonic comparison of the 5SE and the 28.
Feickert PlatterSpeed app
folkfreak - you are a certifiable genius!  I just loaded the app on an old iPad I use in a bedroom system for running the BlueSound app.  Thanks for the suggestion!LarryRS
Grace Level ll
Love the Grace cartridges that I know. Only the F9 though, unfortunately. I have 3. One with the SoundSmith Ruby OCL that sounds incredible. Would love to hear the Level II at some point.LarryRS

Check out Etymotic Research.  They make a variety of earplugs that fit what you are looking for.  Also make some great earphones too (e.g., ER-4 series).  I have a number of pair of their headphones and have used their earplugs when motorcycle rid...
Ortofon Quintet Black S Cartridge-Looking for opinions
I think you made a good choice and will be very happy with the Quintet Black.  I have one in a Vinyl Nirvana-modified TD160 Super with a SME M2-9 arm and it sings beautifully. BTW, I have used it with the Parasound HINT and they worked well togeth...
ARC Ref 5se inferior to LS28?
I would agree if we were discussing a comparison of the Ref 6 and Ref 5SE, or LS28 and LS27.  I've not yet seen ARC claim a new LS is better than a recently discontinued Ref series.LarryRS
ARC Ref 5se inferior to LS28?
Not sure that logic necessarily follows.  5Se was introduced in 2011 - plenty of time for improvements to be made.  But the question remains unaddressed.  Does anyone have any experience comparing the two preamps?  Anyone from Audio Research able ...
Please help a rookie –used amps for magnepan 3.7?
I have used the Bryston 4B SST2 with the Magnepan 3.7i's, driven by the balanced outputs of the LS17SE, and the combination was extremely good in my estimation.  The Parasound Halo A21 also works very well with the 3.7i's.  Either the Bryston or t...

Coda CP pre-amp vs Rogue Athena Magnum vs ARC LS-12 .Need information
In general, for ARC, SP = Stereo Preamplifier (with phono stage), LS = Line Stage (without phono stage). There are some exceptions (e.g., the SP-17L is a line stage only SP-17). LarryRS
