stereo review magazine Agreed with you about CR and frequency of repair and some other securely quantifiable measures. I also have few reservations about the measurements they have classically used on loudspeakers their empirical validity. I think their measurement ex...
stereo review magazine Back in the time audio was really beginning to be more popular and mainstream and Stereo Review, High Fidelity and Audio were the leading magazines in the U.S., there was a revolution occurring in the industry. In the 50's and 60's was the progre...
Which amplifier should i buy "it seems that its not easy to choose an amplifier."You got that right.
Which amplifier should i buy Pretty sure both PS Audio and Audio by Van Alstine have a 30 day trial period. The ones I mentioned have MOSFET output stages, so they may sound closer to a tube amp in your system than most solid state amps that use bipolar output transistors. ...
Which amplifier should i buy Have you considered a hybrid amplifier? One with a tube input stage and a solid state output stage. The ones I've owned are made by Audio by van Alstine (FET Valve 600R) PS Audio (BHK Signature 250 and 300 monoblocks). I've had high powered tub...
3D lifelike sound and impeccable measurements - mutually exclusive??? "98% I would expect have only a limited and likely inaccurate knowledge of how our hearing and brain processes information (before the screaming starts, we don't know all the details, but we know quite well the response mechanisms to external stim...
Brand new Technics SL-1210GR platter wobble ... disappointed! I know of it only the little that I've read.
Brand new Technics SL-1210GR platter wobble ... disappointed! If you're willing to go "sort of" vintage, Vinyl Nirvana sells Thorens reproduction tables with Moth (Rega) arms and many choices of hardwood plinths (and many other options). They are beautiful, very good sounding tables and Dave is really good ...
Brand new Technics SL-1210GR platter wobble ... disappointed! I bought a 1200G and tried it with 3 different cartridges (Ortofon Quintet Black, Denon 103R, Signet TK7Ea). I, and a friend, preferred the sound of the VPI Prime (using the same cartridges with and without the dual pivot). And as I mentioned in a...
If your were to assemble a vintage system ? For a good sounding inexpensive system a good starting point would be the NAD 3020 integrated. Not a lot of power by it's specs but could drive most speakers of the era quite well. The Cambridge Soundworks Ensemble system (2 woofers and 2 satell...
Brand new Technics SL-1210GR platter wobble ... disappointed! "because no one else have such problem with Technics platter."Did my post from above disappear (reproduced below)? Or it didn't count for some reason?"I returned an SL-1200G with a platter wobble. My SL1200MkII wobbled considerably less."

Anyone else treated poorly by AVA? I've never had anything but (many) good experiences with Frank and AVA.
For ARC lovers, Problems? From the original post:"From your experience with Audio Research is this a good idea going back to the ref 6 with the hope of upgrading it to the SE?"Does anyone know if ARC is still doing upgrades? I was put on the list to upgrade my LS28 to LS2...
PS Audio BHK 250 - Is it still a good amp? As I said above, my BHK 250 has been used to drive Magneplanar 3.7i’s and 1.7i’s with no issues at all. |
