Experience with adding super tweeter?
Makes sense, more 'airy', less 'precise'.
Experience with adding super tweeter?
thanks for the input. What happened to the soundstage (size, precision)?
Bananas rule, spades drool. End of discussion.
There are such things as SOCKETS to TIGHTEN stuff.  On my FIRST DIY speaker, I simply used copper screws and nuts. As with EVERY bolt on your car, proper tightened with a socket and a wrench, they never come loose, and provide gigantic contact ar...
Finally...subwoofer that's aesthetically pleasing!
I thought about it, but then walked away since the colors clashed with my rug.
How does bi-wiring work?
That: "NOTE: bi-amping is a different story". VERY different.
Yes, cables do make a difference -- regardless of price...
Cables make a difference. Anecdotal evidence/example: 40+ years ago when our small group of young enthusiasts/future engineers/tinkerers dabble heavily in audio (and the first CD came out, yeah!), we soon found ’thicker’ is better (instead of 0.7...
Smaller plug-in AC Purifiers -- Shunyata, iFi, Puron...something else? What do you like?
Just curious: using a Monster Power HTUPS 2700 Home Theater Surge Protection and UPS.  Does it do anything to reduce noice, improve sound, or just a glorified UPS and surge protector?
What is going on here? Streamer or DAC?
Is it an indication that there are no issues when streaming video as per OP?
Speaker Spikes - Working Principle
Just re-read this one: "Rubber has a lower internal impedance than say wood which is lower than concrete. The highest internal impedance I think is Diamond.". That is the reason why they are now building all Stradivaris from receycled tires :-)
Speaker Spikes - Working Principle
@audiopoint Yeah, right. And all is on top of the fact that 'hard' spikes do nothing except 'hold' the speaker. And no: even solid gold spikes don't do more (except are high on pixel dust content). Is the above meant to be SERIOURS? Or a nicely d...
Ripping CDs
Not sure what the OP's background is, but if you have a trusted collection of lots of CD's, why would he PAY for streaming what he already owns! So naturally, you rip the CDs. No internet and bandwidth to worry about, no fees to pay for streaming ...
Speaker Spikes - Working Principle
@vitussl101 do OSCILLATING tweeter membran REALLY MOVE a 50 lb speaker? Remember, those milligram 'pistons' go back and forth (SAME force or better, same impulse in EACH DIRCTION) about 5000 time PER SECOND. that 50 lb MASS is way to slow to move....
Eliminated my preamp with amazing results
How are volume controllers in the anaolog signal path (after the DAC) done today? Not anymore a variable resistance (either potentiometer or a multistep switch with descrete, high quality resistors for each step)?
Speaker Spikes - Working Principle
@yoyoyaya "but they also stop the bottom of the cabinet from coupling directly to the floor". Yes, that crossed my mind as well. The spikes only couple the motion of the speaker assembly to the floor (undampened if made from just metal) and put on...
Speaker Spikes - Working Principle
@ditusa Vandersteen on spikes:just came across this exmaple, and below in that same thread someone who put granite plates under the spikes. Those pucks seem to use rubber to quell speaker vibrations transmitted to the floor. The granite plates (h...
