Anybody have an actively multi-amplified system?
This category includes all modern Meridian systems which also incorporate room correction.
When is it to hot to cut the grass?
It is always too hot to mow the grass except when it is too cold. I gave up yard work when my kids were old enough to do it and now hire a service. Weekends are too short already.
Does amp output V decrease by adding gain stage?
So what is your question then?
Does amp output V decrease by adding gain stage?
Increasing gain in the input voltage amplifier stages will increase input sensitivity but should have no effect on the capabilities of the output stage. But a 4V output for an amplifier is very, very low. Perhaps you are talking about a preamp?
Two-channel is inferior to multi-channel, no?
I do not think that anyone culpable for this has learned much and that includes big record companies, equipment manufacturers and reviewers. Each still has a narrow view of the options.
Two-channel is inferior to multi-channel, no?
That sounds reasonable. However, the topic is not affordability or, even, effectiveness of expenditure but superiority (or inferiority) in reproduction. As for one's collection being predominantly 2 channel, my MCH plays stereo recordings very wel...
Auralex subdude
SubDudes don't do much for the speaker itself as much as they prevent compliant wood floors from contributing to the sound.
Squeezebox Touch with an Oppo BDP-105
The USB port on the SBT is for input unless you tweak it to provide output. Easier would be to connect either the optical or coax output to the 105.Or, you could use the 105 in place of the SBT if you had a local display.
Amp added to Receiver to power B&W floor speakers?
Your Onkyo TX-NR609 does not have the necessary line level outputs for this. The Harmon Kardon DPR 2005 has the outputs but, as you note, lacks other significant features.A lash-up solution would be to get a pair of speaker-to-line level adapters f...
Advice on AV Receiver versus Separates
My negative comment on biamping is based on the assumption that it will be accomplished in the most common and least effective way: feeding a full-range signal to two amps which are wired to the two pairs of terminals on a speaker with an internal...
Advice on AV Receiver versus Separates
Ok. Got it. So what are the benefits of biamping? IMHO, nothing but that opinion is not shared universally.
Advice on AV Receiver versus Separates
I thought bi amping would just double the power to the main speakers and improve sonic quality even at low volumes. Is this not right? No, it does not but, even if it did, why would you not just buy a bigger amp?
Advice on AV Receiver versus Separates
Why bi- amp? All you need is an amp sufficient for your needs.
Use stereo amp and speakers with surround receiver
Does the H-K have line level outputs for L/R? Does the Rogue amp have a HT Bypass feature or input? That is what you need.
Advice on AV Receiver versus Separates
The 7005 is excellent but a little dated. You might consider one of the more recent Denon/Marantz/Onkyo/Integra AVRs for more up-to-date features.
