Music Server Recommendation
A viable solution is the SOtM SMS 200 Ultra. It does the same as the Aurender N100H, but no internal hard drive. Very good reviews for around $1,200 and can be purchased from Crux Audio in the US.
Impedance Matching Question
The Burson Buffer has not been made for quite a while now, and are hard to find. However Burson has this ingenious RCA cable with a small solid state buffer built into it. It is powered by 5 Volts DC. It will help with most any impedance mismatches.
Is Velodyne gone?
There is a velodyne repair place in NJ. You just send them the amp. Google it.
Carver Amazing Line Source Speakers
If you are very serious, Carver will pay for your flight and hotel stay. This is true, as they would rather have you hear them properly set up instead of at some dealership where they only hope they’re correct. Instead of selling them for less to ...
Carver Amazing Line Source Speakers
I heard I heard them at RMAF and was very impressed! They compared to the plus 50-100k speakers in some other rooms. I love a large room filling sound, and these do it. I would get them, but I already have large room filling sounding speakers.
Yanni or Laurel?
I've been thinking more about this, and I think it happens all the time with our other senses. What about smell, or taste? There are lots of people who think peas are good, but I think they taste like crap. Now I see it. Peas don't taste like crap...
Yanni or Laurel?
OK, so Laurel seems to be tracking around 60%, and Yanny the other 40%. Here's the thing though. These two words are entirely different!. I am amazed by this, as I have only ever heard Laurel. I have tried different sources, moved to different roo...
What was the first system you heard that made you think the high end made sense
In 1971 I was only 11 and had a garage sale to raise money for a better stereo. $320 later I got a Pioneer receiver and a pair of Rectilinear 10B speakers from Tech Hi-Fi. Now I'm not saying they were high end, but at age11 they were the coolest. ...
Belles Greatest Integrated ever! The Virtuoso
Belles made a monoblock product MB-200 that were 200 watts into 8 Ohm and 400 into 4 Ohm. Those amps are stunning and have tons of current capability. They come up on Audiogon every once in a while and are usually around $3,000. They also have a 1...
Recommendations for music network player
You can get the Power Supply box from SOtM as well. It's $500 and plugs directly into the SMS 200 Ultra which is $1200. As for the SSD, well that's just an external hard drive that you can get anywhere that you put your music onto. People have sai...
Recommendations for music network player
One could also check out the SOtM SMS 200 Ultra at 1/2 cost of the Aurender N100h. Only thing is, it needs a good power supply and an external SSD.
Aurender N100h vs. SOtM sms-200 Ultra
It seems the SOtM sms200 ultra and the Aurender N100h are essentially the same thing except the SOtM has no internal hard drive or power supply, but is less than half the cost of the Aurender. I already have a 1TB SSD and external power supply so ...
Sonic Tonic fom the Tweek Geek
Not only does it cost a lot to get a patent, but enforcing it from being "knocked off" is almost impossible for the "little guy".
Aurender N100h vs. SOtM sms-200 Ultra
ferenc - Is there a consumer product that will read from an SS drive that will be controlable through an itype device and output to a DAC that uses this type of interface? Please provide more specific actual products as I don't know what you are t...
Wrong way to clean a stylus!
Oh well, sorry to hear about your misfortune, but if you're looking for support through numbers, I still recall driving home from a bicycle club ride and hitting the garage door remote to whip right in like Batman into his "Bat Cave". Only thing I...
