Speaker cable recommendations
The Monoprice 4-conductor DIY cable sounds great and works nicely for bi-wiring, and is quite affordable.
Am I wasting money on the theory of Bi-amping?

Two identical amps....one for each channel has less crosstalk, and a dedicated power supply on each channel....similar benefits as mono blocks. Any amp should benefit from that scenario.  If you use two identical stereo amps, you can use one chann...

It’s not a waste. Assuming the passive crossovers in your speakers are good, you still gain the benefit of having separate amps for each channel, which have similar benefits as monoblocks. There’s better physical and electrical separation. Are yo...
TRAVELING TO JAPAN! Recommendations for shops for cartridges?
@njcardave  Look for DS Audio optical cartridges. I have the entry level DS E1. FANTASTIC. +1.  It's in a totally different price class than Nagaoka, and needs a proportionately top shelf system to really be heard, but I've heard the DS W3 on ...

Nagaoka MP-500.  It has a warm musical character with stellar midrange clarity and fatigue free natural open airy treble.  Very dynamic too.
We Are Not Alone--there are those above us
I’ve been a Roy Buchanan fan since the 80s when I first heard him play. My boys recognized his talent right away, and are always borrowing the LP. Very, very talented man.  His guitar sings with the best of them.
Midrange Increasingly Harsh
Do the tweeters have ferro fluid?  That can need to be replaced after many years, as it turns into sludge. You may also have some capacitors in the crossover that are drifting from original values.   Tubes are a consumable, and should be checked...
What is the science behind audiophile fuses?
That's a fair question that I can't answer from experience. I would have been very interested in an actual informed answer if anyone can offer one.  May just have to do some searching and reading if I truly want to know.
Immersive Audio and How to Achieve It
Honestly, I don’t understand much about anything other than a two speaker traditional stereo setup, other than adding a subwoofer or two, mainly because I never pursued it. Multi-channel, multi-speaker systems were an "effect" in my view, though I...
Cabasse 320 m3 Sloop Power Amp...compatibility question
Should be fine, depending on how loud you wanna go.  Won't hurt a thing if you use some common sense.  You'll get around 100db max.  I'm driving the midbass and tweeters of my 89db sensitivity speakers with 12 watts triode (8 ohms)...no trouble i...
How serious are you?
My "interest level" has ebbed and waned over the 42 years I’ve been doing this...I’d guess somewhere between an 8 and 10, depending on what’s happening in life. I prefer to call it a passion more than an obsession, because it’s simply my activity ...
I used to think pricey interconnects were snake oil...
Unless you do a blind test sighted bias is in play.  I've tried many cables I haven't liked much, and several that I have.  I wanted to love every single one of them, but didn't.  How are cables that we don't like explained without a blind test...
Does someone’s opinion affect your opinion?
What if he said your wife is ugly.... Next of kin will notified 😆
Does someone’s opinion affect your opinion?
How a cart works in one system can have very little relevance how it’ll perform in another. There are a bunch of variables that impact how a cart sounds. The loading from the phono stage, cables, tonearm compatibility, VTA, SRA, VTF, different sys...
