What exactly is PRaT??? @soix - not knowing PRaT in audio components may be a blessing - one less thing to detract from the music I find this interesting. I'm with soix as I too have difficulty pinning down the understanding of PRaT in audio components. I understand w...
Looking for my End Game Speaker I heard both. After demoing many speakers at audio shows and stores, Magico and YG were my favorite. I was hoping to get to maybe M3 level used, but my budget was more A5 level. I also went to an AXPONA to demo my final speakers: Magico A5 vs R...
Physically Comfortable Headphones @dtorc Highly valuing sonics, I’d first do deep research on the best headphones via reviews to create a list of possible headphones within budget, then go out and demo for myself. Headphonics and Headfonia both have many reviews. After compili...
First impressions: Silversmith Fidelium interconnects Sonic bargains much appreciated in this rather costly hobby. Thanks for posting.
Dedicated CD Transport vs DAC @no_regrets - You’re fortunate, over the last ~5yrs there have been great strides in DAC sonics at more affordable prices. If you like to spin CDs, best to get a better transport if within budget. TEAC VRDS-701T CD transport Is another option.
New Speakers under consideration - but I’m afraid @ritter06 - excellent plan. Always best to try a component in one's own system if one can afford to do so. I'm assuming you already have proper sonic room treatments?
analyzing sound @jrdavisphd An audiophile is nothing more than one who pursues better sonics for recorded music through better equipment. Like the sky, ocean, mountains, etc words cannot describe how much more a musical connection from recorded music we each f...
New Speakers under consideration - but I’m afraid On the other hand, achieving sonic bliss is fantastic for an audiophile. The question is: “Which is stronger, the Carrot or the Stick?”
New Speakers under consideration - but I’m afraid @ritter06 - no easy solutions. We cannot tell you what you’ll subjectively like We cannot predict if it’ll work synergistically your other components and/or room We all have to try/risk for ourselves. One could try to mitigate the risk by p...
Is "detailed" audiophile code for too much treble? For those who are sensitive to bright/strident sounds, I often think one solution is a “soft” dome tweeter.
Magico speakers too clinical and fatiguing? Magico speakers too clinical and fatiguing? No, I’ve demoed Magico at a few audio shows. It’s transparent of the other components up the audio chain. Strange that the OP would suggest clinical and fatiguing when Magico recognized at a top sp...
Building my 1st real system. Need advice. Hoping to pair Luxman507uxii/Dyaudio Evoke20. @mrcorky - seems you want a musical and forgiving set-up. Maybe Harbeth+Hegel combo- great sonic match. The Hegel H360 or H390 optional DAC is fairly good.
Integrated amp for 2500-3000 Maybe a used Hegel H360, the used H390 would be a budget stretch.
??? How Much Would You Spend ??? Tough to find a consensus because we have different budgets and spending priorities - those with larger budgets would usually spend more than those on a more restricted budgets. Rough guess those on a tight budget 3-7k for electronics (pre+amp) an...
Relaxed/Analog sounding DAC for under $10k (used or new) Lampizator seems like a good choice to try. The Baltic has sonics above its price point, or maybe the TRP. Maybe tube roll to preference. |
