powercord for Plinius SA-250
I upgraded from a Shunyata Taipan(original) to an Electraglide Ultra Khan Statement2 Revised/Revalation pc when I had my SA 250 amp. The effect of which was not at all subtle. If you want to hear how good your 250 can perform, this cord will provi...

What concerts have your kids dragged you to?
I took my daughter when she was 13 to see Rob Thomas and Matchbox 20 at the Chastain Ampitheatre here in Atlanta in the late 90's. I must admit, I enjoyed the show as well. Although, when everyone stood up and danced to the music..she promptly tol...

Does anyone like vintage speakers?
Larry, I had those same Cornwalls back in '87...I could knock the pictures off the walls playing the 1812 Overture with my 40W Yamaha integrated! I wish I had the proper amplification with them at the time however..My Dad has a pair of the JansZen...

CD player for my system?
Take a look at my threads on the Jolida JD 100A. Ya think I may like the Jolida a little bit? ;)Change out the stock tubes to some warm, yet nicely detailed Ei ECC-83 Gray Plates and add a good power cord upgrade and you have a superb, very analog...
"Fixed" bias versus "auto-biasing"
That is one of the other advantages of auto bias..you can replace one tube when it goes and not a whole matched set of 4. It becomes less critical to have your tubes matched..but I would still recommend matching so that the bias circuit doesnt hav...
Solid state or tube what to do??
My recommendation is to throw a few tubes in the mix somewhere. The Cayin at 30 watts should be fine here, unless your head banging to metal or like it loud. I can also highly recommend the Manley Stingray if your budget allows ( <1500. used) t...
"Fixed" bias versus "auto-biasing"
Bias is the voltage applied to the tubes grid. Manufactures design the circuit for the tube to have certian voltage applied that results in optimum life, sound, and safe operation of the amp.Basically the difference is that with fixed bias, you ad...
Is the Jolida jd 100 as good as the dealers claim?
Of course we all have different experiences about the gear. Synergy is more important than any one single piece of gear no matter how good it is.I posted above that it was better than my Wadia 23/ 24/192 Electrocompaniet combo in my system at that...
Ei Gold Elite vs
Im using the Ei ECC-83 (12AX7) Gray Plates (non Elite, non- gold pins) in my Jolida JD-100. I agree with Newbee's assesment of these as being a tad warmer sounding. The Elite gold pins, I found a bit too bright, and less textured sounding. Some oth...
