Vandersteen Quatro CT Sounds like I need to listen to a pair and hopefully arrange an in home demo. I had 2 ci's former many years and even had a Model 5 for a year. I could never get the 5 to sound as good as I thought they should. I had bought the 5 off Agon and prob...
Thinking I need a Sub... I would get a sub or two if I was truly stuck with monitor speakers in my 2 channel system. I do use a Vandersteen sub in my HT (with an audyssey capable proc :)) but that a different ball o wax.
Pass Labs Point 8 Series info I think the whole-supply/demand simple economic analysis does not really apply here. This is a luxury market where other factors drive pricing. This probably applies more to the XA 200.8 than the XA30.8.
PASS XA.5 Series Amen brother. Great amps.
Thinking I need a Sub... I look forward to reading if the OP is able to successfully integrate the sub into his system/room and get a better sound. Its obviously possible to do. I just suspect its going to take a fair amount of tweaking, which some audiophiles enjoy. But ...
Thinking I need a Sub... There are good and bad to both solutions. The larger speakers will allow a more full frequency response that may satisfy your needs. This depends on your room, your system and your preferred lessening level. The dual sub option would more likely m...

Has anyone tried a "leather" turntable mat? I recently aquired a mooomat because I love the design. It looks great and lets be honest here, mats offer a very subtle change to the the sound of a TT. So try one if you like the look. It will sound fine.
Next step? Hey Roscoeii,I've spent a little over a week with the Anvil. It is a fantastic turntable. Very straight forward and incredibly heavy without taking too much space. I started a thread on Vinylengine if you would like to see pictures. The demo unit ...
Next step? Hi Roscoeiii,I'll be getting an in home demo of an Anvil "Alloy Convertible" turntable on Tuesday. I guess that is one perk of living in Ann Arbor, near Anvil Turntable HQ.I'll post what I'm hearing with that nice and heavy rig.
Next step? Jperry, Sounds like a good plan.
Next step? Thanks Jjrenman, Mechans and Manitunc for your responses. I was leaning toward a LOMC cartridge, like a Dyna 20x2L or a AT-OC9ml/iii but wanted to make sure I wasn't wasting time in the context of my somewhat ancient turntable. The logic being if ...
Next step? Ok. Let me simplify. Given my current setup, would I get more bang for the buck with a $2500 investment in a new cartridge or a new turntable/tonearm?
I wanna rock -- with monitors on stands The Legacy audio Studio HD is 93db efficient. |
