Morrow Audio Speaker cables / high end brightness ??
I would address the source issue before spending any time and money trying different cables.
Odd question... power compared to?
I'd go with the A21, certainly not the A23. A McIntosh amp capable of driving those speakers will cost at least twice as much. Also, first time I hear bright and lean in the same sentence with a McIntosh amp unless the amp was way underpowered for...
Question about hum from speakers
All great suggestions. One other possibility could be too high gain combination between the preamp and the amp. My (tube) preamp has a separate output gain control - in addition to volume control, and I can increase the gain to the point where I c...
Reasonable but not outragious interconnects
"Ideally one wants to spend 25-30% of their budget on cabling."Sounds excessive but your money your ears.
Quad ESL 63 In Another League Now
I tried changing he direction of my power cords as geofkitten had suggested but no matter how much I tried I could not fit the three prongs in the IEC plug. Did I use the wrong lubricant? geofkitten, please help!

+ on Wharfdale 225. I found them much more open and dynamic and less amplifier dependent than the Totem Rainmakers. The Totem Arros were significantly better than the Rainmakers while occupying similar footprint.
Amp or speaker issue?
"...check the dust caps and make sure they are still attached. Run your finger around the surround, make sure it's all in one piece,"Easier said than done on the Vandersteen model 2s...

Sorry if I missed it but what preamp/amp are you using during the comparison?
Marantz PM10 class D amp
"How can you make statements in regards to amplifier performance/musicality when you are not using the same speakers to compare them (and maybe not even in the same room)?"You have a fair point in principle but its certainly better than making sta...
Marantz PM10 class D amp
I wouldn’t be too quick to eliminate options just based on on-paper specs. If that were the case, no one would be buying any tube components. That aside, I’ve only heard two of the components on your list, Marantz PM10 and the ML383 - as well as M...
Magnepan and room size, room placement
I'd look at the .7 or MMGi models instead if you're determined to use the Magnepans. The distance rules still apply but these models are more forgiving than the larger ones. Spend the $ difference on room acoustics.
picking speakers (and electronics) for a relatively large room - new
If I were to start building a new system and had a total budget like yours, I'd get a pair of ATC SCM100ASLT active floor-standing speakers and a nice streamer/DAC like a Lumin and be done. Or go with a ATC SCM150ASLT if you can stretch your budge...

^^^^ You selectively left out an important part of the review regarding the comparison with and without an LPS:"I should note that these are not audible problems as the levels are quite low. Just lack of good engineering and system design."Nonethe...
Is this too hot for my preamp? What should I do?
I always think of monoblocks sitting right next to the speakers.
Aerial 5T impressions
Out of curiosity, do any of you 5T owners feel a sub is needed to fill in the lower octaves? I’m thinking in a listening room size of say 13’x17’ with speakers along the shorter wall with primarily jazz and acoustic music.
