Stable Platter Transports I used to have an EAD T-1000 transport, and it was quitedecent, especially at the price. However last year I soldit and upgraded to a Levinson #37 transport. There is nocomparison. Bass is much deeper and tighter, highs haveless edge and steelines...
I don't get it I might also submit that used equipment, appropriatelychosen, can be a decent investment with little downsidefinancial risk. I've owned several items which I usedfor a few years, and sold near or above my purchase price. What other hobby allows that?
Best Packaging in the Business They use a double box-within-a-box, and inside that a custom fitted box with foam block surrounds, justin case the UPS/FedEx guy throws it off the back of the truck.

Best Cheap, Small, High Sensitivity Speakers Try Soliloquy 5.0 monitors. I had a pair, and they wereterrific. They make an identical speaker with highersensitivity specifically for SET amps and other lowpowered amps. I can't remember the exact model, somethinglike 2A3, but don't quote me. Th...
Best speakers for a small room? 10'X14' I'm using Magnepan 1.6QR in a 10' X 17' bedroom, along witha Rel Strata III subwoofer. It sounds very nice, howeversome of the credit goes to the TacT RCS 2.0 digital roomcorrection system. I'd still consider the 1.6QR even without room correction.
Your advice on a good cable I have found Alphacore Goertz Sapphire silver cablesto be excellent interconnects, and not outrageously expensive. I'm using a Nordost Silver Shadow as adigital cable, which is also very nice.
what mid priced cables should i buy? I've owned many speakers over the 30+ years I've followedthis crazy hobby, including original 901's. I agree...they've got to go or you're mired in mid-fi forever. One speaker you might consider is one I sold several monthsago, the Soliloquy 5.0 It...
Hall of Shame These speakers would be an excellent value at 1/4 - 1/3the cost.
ARC SP6 or 9; Audible Illusions M3A;Couterpoint 5 I owned an SP-6B, one of the more highly acclaimed of theSP-6 series. I thought it was OK, but not spectacular. Thebackground noise level was too high, the bass ill-definedand the highs rolled off. For its day it was excellent, butmany more curren...
mark levinson 23 amp The recommendation from Spectral is to use MIT cables, because of the high bandwidth of their amps. I happenedto have MIT MI330 Shotgun interconnects which mated wellwith the Levinson. I liked the combo of the DMC-10with the #23. YMMV
mark levinson 23 amp I owned a Levinson #23 for several years, during whichtime I used a Spectral DMC-10 among other preamps. The #23 is a fairly neutral sounding amp. Some describeit as "dark" though I do not agree. It has solid,well-defined bass, good transient respo...
