Levinson turn-on thump... normal?? I've owned several Levinson amps (23, 27.5, 335) and noneof them thumped at power on. Sounds like something elseis going on. I'd check with the dealer and see if he cansuggest ideas. As an addendum, I think Levinson amps areterrific.

Magnepans in a small room I used 1.6's in a room that was 10' X 17' with the speakers on the long wall. I had them set about 4'from the wall and sat on a sofa against the opposite wall. It sounded really nice, with a Rel Strata IIIin between. They can work in a small room ...
Wilson W/P 5.1 vs B&W N802 IMO one of the most overpriced speakers on the market isthe WP 5.1 and earlier models. I can't speak to the latermodels because I haven't heard them. The I heard withKrell electronics in a store in the DC area. It was brittleon the high end and ha...
Rel subs The "Q' series are the lower end of the Rel line. I've gottwo Strata III's and they are excellent. I'm using themas part of a home theater system but previously used incombination with Magnepan 1.6's. They are very tuneful andhave both low and hig...
Room size too big for Sub?? I'm using a pair of Strata III's in a 450SF room w/ 10'ceiling. It works fine, but I'm not sure it's any betterthan the single sub. Positioning of the sub is CRITICAL.Before giving up on it, try moving it to different roompositions. Sometimes the ...
What size screen for front projector? My seating is about 14' from the screen and I havea 103" diagonal Stewart Firehawk. I'm using anInFocus 7205 projector and the combination is stunning. When watching sports on HDTV it's like looking througha plate glass window at the ball park.
Subwoofers that do both L/R & LFE simultaneously? With REL subs, the speaker (high-level) input is the PREFERRED method. It integrates better than with low level signal inputs.I have two REL Strata III subs which I use with both myhome theater system (low level input) and with my twochannel stere...
AGI 511A Preamplifier I had an audiophile friend who owned a 511A. It was OKin it's day (late 70's) but nothing special. It's notin the same league as current highend preamps.
What kind of outlet wall plate do yo use? I've found that the Home Depot plastic wall platesimpart a loss of spatial information and lack ofcoherency. Ace Hardware wall plates have an extendedhigh frequency response but muddy, one-dimensional bass. I tried and quickly eliminated Sears wal...

Need advice on subwoofer Another vote for Rel. I'm using a pair of Strata III'sand they are excellent. Rel subwoofers have a highlyadaptable crossover network with provisions for bothhigh and low level inputs simultaneously. I have mineset up on low level input with my 5....
wilson watt puppy5 or genesis 501 Agree with Beemer. I've heard the Watt/Puppy 5's and theywere slightly less tuneful than fingernails on a blackboard.Maybe they're tameable, but an expensive speaker likethose shouldn't require exotic components to soundacceptable.I have not heard...
