Magnepan 20R vs 20.1Rs
IIRC, the Radio Shack meter goes all the way up, but it's not even roughly accurate towards the top. So you could see relative changes but not absolute ones. If you do a search on the Planar Asylum, you should be able to find JBen's measurements o...
Magnepan 20R vs 20.1Rs
That's interesting. Maybe you're measuring interference between the holes? There's also going to be some lobing at the crossover point. I haven't heard the effect either, maybe it's just because the brain is accustomed to comb filter effects at th...
best amp for Magnepan 3,7
Agree with Onemug, size depends on how loud you like to play them and how close you sit. In general, if you like to play the loudest orchestral music at levels approaching natural ones, e.g., 115 dB on the peaks (which is maybe 100 dB on the typic...
Magnepan 3.7's versus 20.1's?
Dsper, I think the 3.7's will do fine in your room.
Magneplanar MG12: good for my room ?
Daniele, agree your room is a suitable size. Low furniture seems to cause less of a problem than high furniture. If there's furniture behind them and up near ear level, they'll probably still sound good, but the imaging won't be as good. It really...
Magnepan 20R vs 20.1Rs
Bbro, do a search for HP's Absolute Sound review of the 20.1, it's available online and he compares the two versions.Hi Magfan, they said in a review at the time (of the 3.3? whenever they flipped it) that they flipped the pole piece to the back t...
Why no reviews of the Magnepan 3.7 in Stereophile
Tmsorosk, the reviews of the 3.7 that I've seen imply that it has superb rather than poor dispersion, better than the 3.6. The narrow ribbon tweeter inherently has almost perfect dispersion characteristics. I'm guessing that Magnepan improved the ...
Magnepan MG 20 help and recommendations
Vertical, although some people prefer a tilt of a few degrees forward or back.
Magnepan MG 20 help and recommendations
The ribbon tweeters require special handling or they can be destroyed by air movement. So get the ribbon tweeter replacement instructions from Magnepan before unpacking anything. You'll find them very helpful. If the tweeters turn out to be blown, ...
Why do subs sound bloated or slow?
What room interaction does, I think, is produce boomy, one-note bass that is distorted in both the time and frequency domains. Equalization can help with the frequency domain problem, and at the same time, reduce the amplitude of the smear. But ro...
Magnepan 1.7
I don't know about the Wyred integrates, but several people use their power amps with the Maggies with good results.BTW, I've noticed the same improvement in detail during Maggie break-in, it seems par for the course.
Is my room OK for Magneplanar 3.6's
I wish! I own a pair of Tympani 1-D's but my new listening room is only 13' x 14', so I can't fit them and I'm temporary using a pair of MMG's that I bought for my home office. I still haven't figured out what I'm going to do -- I'm thinking I may...
Magnepan 1.7
Just wanted to add that Wendell Diller recommends trying the 1.7's both tweeter in and out. About 2/3 of the time it works better one way, 1/3 the other, but I don't remember at this point which is the one that's more likely to work :-) :-| Anyway...
Magnepan 3.7
The VMPS line sources? I'd expect the imaging to be quite similar, since they have essentially the same driver geoemtry.
Is my room OK for Magneplanar 3.6's
Maplegrovemusic,The general rule of thumb is a minimum of 3' behind the speakers, a minimum of 2' on either side. But 5' is better behind and they keep getting better up to 15'! They really like to breathe. To put this in perspective, you want the ...
