I recently bought a Hegel H80 for around the price you state. I use the DAC for the Sonos Connect, and there are multiple digital and analog inputs. Relatively small and looks good.  Sounds great. I use with Dali Helicon 300 monitors. Other source...

a better amp can definitely help the bass.  don't let the fact that you own stands play a part in your decision. 
Integrated Amp Vs. Outboard DAC
agree. it will only take an extra cable and minute to set up, and will not affect ease of use. on the other hand, if you don't plan to make any changes for a bunch of years, and are only looking for mid-fi, then an all in one is cheaper. I use both.

the larger Paradigms won't take up much more floor space than the 20's and stands...beyond that there are many great small to medium floor standers and larger/better monitors...
