Is the main reason audio equipment depreciates so much is
all of the above, and not only in audio. depreciation seems fairly constant. I believe technology and parts quality does change, but not a fast as manufacturers want us to believe.

My experience is the exact opposite of pmotz . I live a few hours away. But always plenty of music of various great equipment. Haven't been in about 3 years

I don't agree with your premise Taters. I think you can be a music lover, but still enjoy improving your system. There's a big difference between enjoying what you have but enjoying making improvements, and being dissatisfied...

I'm in a house, in a small town, but for "really serious listening" I unplug TV, DVD and internet, and the difference is also not subtle...

I also read a thread here a bunch of years ago, where Charles Hansen of Ayre, recommended unplugging TV and DVD player before listening to music...makes a difference in my system
