The Music Room
I've bought from them once and they seemed very professional. Unless you are selling used gear for gain (then please write a book about how to do that so we all can!), you shouldn't worry about 1099s from Paypal.  They are reporting revenue, not i...
A listening test of two power amps
The anti-testing and anti-measurement crowd certainly makes an impression. It's a good thing those folks aren't doctors or pharmacologists, or we wouldn't have gotten any further than "which medicine do I think makes me feel better..." [which, bac...
The Psychology of Constant (Equipment) Change
Just illustrates different personality types.  Some folks want to hone one system to its max -- perfectionists -- while others want to see what different combinations create -- explorers.  Neither is "right." My system is set up with swap bays so...
Ethernet cables
First, it’s important to point out that the OP asked for opinions, and that the ethernet cable believers do not have monopoly here. Many post in a civil manner and keep things respectful, but there are a a few that do not -- you know who you are -...
Dog pissed on speaker
Actually the suggestion of taking the driver out and putting it outside in sunlight is not bad, it would help break down the urine, albeit it might also help break down the cone. Ozone generator similar idea but it's an open question about how goo...
New Network Acoustics Tempus switch
PSA:  Just a balancing comment that many network engineers and others who understand packet based communications believe that these network enhancing devices do not have any effect on sound quality. And if there is any "dirt" in a signal there ar...
Effect of Internet Service Quality on Streaming?
Unless you are hearing dropouts, it's definitely not your Internet connection. I suggest building a dome around your house so you can control light, air pressure, and humidity.  Then your only remaining variable is your mood.  There may be ways t...
Are there other people like me ? Amazed by their low cost system :)
OK, if you really want to know. So I am dedicated to buying almost everything second hand - yesterday’s upper end. I don’t mind having to wait to live in luxury. I buy off of Craigslist, from Saturday Audio Exchange (Andy is the best), occasional...
Are there other people like me ? Amazed by their low cost system :)
Some people love music.  Some people love gear...at any cost, low or high. For some people, audio is just another way for them to experience (and express) their money.  You can pretty easily tell who is who on these forums.
Replaced Everything, New Gears waiting to be installed...
Wow, that is quite an amazing amount of gear and I'll bet loads of fun to install. Only comment is that I doubt the tube buffer is going to stick. There is at least a theoretical reason why tubes in an analog stage could be beneficial or to taste...
PURON RESOLVE creates new options for better sound

DAC suggestions for a reasonably modest system
A couple of thoughts: Y cable is BAD. Before you even consider a new DAC, see if there's a way to connect to multiple systems without doing that. Looks like the SMSL has balanced and single ended outputs.  On SOME DACs, using both doesn't degra...
New Streamer, DAC or Let it Be
BTW, my sympathies on having your listening room double as your wife's office.  I'd be like "are you done working yet?" at all hours of the day.  I hope you have a good headphones setup somewhere else!
New Streamer, DAC or Let it Be
I totally agree that there's no point in looking at anything else until you get the primary/core gear optimized.  Clearly the weak link is the AV Preamp - those are just not optimized for 2 channel and they just can't be.   So, I totally agree th...
The Emperor Has No Clothes!!
But why treat people with disdain for enjoying their systems? Sometimes it is truly disdain, other times it's in the eye of the beholder - i.e. people take offense when none was intended. Depends on whether it's actually an ad hominem attack or...
