New buy, no return policy
My few dealings with TMR have been more than honorable. They took back a REL sub that hummed and crackled and gave me a good discount on the next model up. Other purchases just worked fine. Best Buy doesn't need to let you return speakers or loan...
Why Does Expensive Gear Seems To Sound Better?
There's a little truth and a lot of BS on both sides. I did like the sound of the $144K reference cables I listened to yesterday at AXPONA.  The sound was pristine all the way until the speakers.
Gain level on a REL sub
Seems like the OP is telling us that he thinks it is operating correctly but is just a different kind of speaker than his prior sub.  I would say, however, that if the gain is at 100% there must be some issue.  That just isn't normal.
Need advice from the gurus.
I like it but I don't know if I'm missing out.  Ah, the essence of audiophilia nervosa.  So ChatGPT falls for the typical audiophile BS about DAC's. Keep in mind that ChapGPT just reads its training content and then organizes and spits it b...
So what series are you WATCHING now?
Reacher is silly fun albeit every season is the same -- he gets involved in something not his business, beats up or kills a bunch of bad guys, and that turns on a female law enforcement official who makes the first sexual move.  The main "drawback...
Best Audiophile Album in terms of Dynamic Range and Mastering Quality?
Well here I was all ready to jump all over the list for being the same audiophilic dreck always mentioned, but the list is actually more diverse than I expected.  But I will still say that I'd rather listen to a bad recording of good music than a...
Are there any recording artists you just can’t listen too?
Why?  Can't we all just enjoy music without calling out each others' tastes?
And the biggest influence on sound quality is...
Brain!  Can't say how many times I've just been driving down the road listening to the mediocre system in my pickup truck enjoying the heck out of music.  Ear/brain adjusts to quality.  That's not to say audio quality isn't enjoyable.  But I woul...
Need to learn about Audio Research
I have rebuilt Maggie 3.3rs and have used lots of different amps on them, including Rogue Magnum 120s - pretty powerful tube amps. Maggies really like to slurp good quality high power. Ultimately they are at their best actively biamped with 200-25...
F-XLR to M-RCA recommendations
I love how gauging the efficacy of the cables on Amazon came down to them costing too little.  Because yes, you guarantee yourself a much better product and experience just by finding something that costs more.   Anyway, a DAC with only balanced ...
a rant
Well, the thing about a hobby is generally they are active.  You can't just sit still if it's going to be a hobby...thus the need to churn equipment even if one already loves the sound.  This is why I focus on curating content as much or more tha...
The DAC Scam - Almost everyone believes the hype
Just like everything else in our society these days, many people seem to be at the extreme here.  Either everything matters or it all sounds the same.  Deal with it - not everything matters, but some things matter to varying degrees.
One Sub or Two?
The more subs the better, but I agree, with speakers like those, tread lightly - only use very good subs. I don't have speakers of that caliber.  But I do have 5 RELS in a huge carpeted bonus room (entire footprint of a big house) and it took all...
Who's winning?
I think the winner is the guy who buys the 30k speaker used for 15k. This. I wouldn’t have the system I have without the guys that buy the stuff new and get tired of it after 6 months! I would suggest, unfortunately, that the $30K speaker guy ...
The Audio Science Review (ASR) approach to reviewing wines.
This is indeed a false dilemma. Telling me I like something because it measures well makes little sense...but telling me that measuring something has no place in a selection process is equally senseless. These are just data points. On the OP's an...
